Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I am having problems with email. System is Outlook Express. Sometimes I reply to an email, send it, it goes into the sent items but it is never received and there is no undelivered message. This problem is random and sometimes the recipient gets the email and other times does not. It appears that the lost messages don't end up in a spam box and the messages don't have attachments or content that would be filtered out. I have contacted my email server and they have no idea why this is happening - as far as they are concerned the messages have been sent from them to the recipient server and they have no more control over the process. My business depends on accommodation bookings and inquiries via the internet and without the assurance that messages are being received - the business is under threat. Can you help? Thankyou Peter Walker

All my attachments to my e-mails sent and received are all encripted and i cannnot read them.can you help

go into the preferences or options menu of whichever email software you are using and check out the security tab. you should find a check box marked " encrypt outgoing messages" and it needs to be unchecked. If you are sending out encrypted messages, the replies will also be encrypted. With Outlook and Outlook Express, start up outlook, go to Tools, options and then the security tab, this check box is in here. Uncheck the box and then apply and ok. Next, restart outlook..

Outlook email with attachment, sending problem

Load Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe"). This ensures:
- No plug-ins get loaded that might touch the item.
- Loading Outlook in offline mode means it won't touch the stuck item.
Delete the stuck item in the Outbox folder.
Put Outlook in online mode (File -> Work Offline: disable).
If you restarted Outlook in its safe mode, exit and restart Outlook for normal operation.

If it's Outlook Express, in OE Tools>Options> Maint tab "store folders" note the location. Go to this location and find the outbox. Delete the .dbx file that goes with it. It will recreate itself on restarting OE.

Outlook express 6.0 outbox problems

This is a common problem with outlook express. The files have become too large for outlook express. I recommend blowing out all the emails. Try first empty the deleted items. If it will not delete. You need to find the folder associated with this identity. That would be in C drive then documents and settings then your username then application data (hidden folder) then identities. There will be a folder with a crazy name of numbers and letters. Go into this folder and you will see your inbox folder and outbox, sent box etc. Delete the folders that you dont have important emails in and this will dump that whole box. Make sure outlook express is closed when you do this. When you reopen outlook express it will recreate these folders empty. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

I have sent an emil but it hasnt appeared in my sent items folder

If you are using Outlook Express, select Tools>Options>Send tab.

There is a menu item to "Save a copy of sent messages in the "Sent Items" folder".

Check the box.

If using another program, comment back.

Outlook Express still sending

Good Evening:

Hope that you are wellJ

Still Stuck in the outbox

Some emails get stuck in the Outbox and sent again and again; this can mean you’re running out of disk space, so your email can’t move it to the Sent folder. You can try moving it or deleting it, but check whether you’re low on space and delete some old emails. Alternatively use Start, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup to get more space.
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know

And, remember; always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Cannot send email

  • check the mail server settings on your pc are the same as those on your ISP's helpscreen 'setting up email'
  • disable any antivirus scanning of email.
1 it does nothing that is not already done by the resident scanner
2 it introduces timing delays that time out mail servers when scanning incoming or outgoing mail, google "email scanning redundant"
  • if Outlook express, check for .dbx corruption, google "outlook express database corrupt"
  • make sure the 'sent items' folder is empty,
not a solution things to check ~75% chance of fix

Gateway puchased with installed Windows XP and microsoft outlook express in 2004 (that is Microsoft outlook express 6)....have Norton best package...have Verizon as internet server....and have...

I think the problem is from your sender. Is the message sent from a personnel email address or from a corporate address? I asked because where I worked, we could make rules to send messages and sometimes those rules were causing that type of problem.

OUTLOOK EXPRESS BACKUP FILE

BAK and BK files usually are backups of other documents or files.

The BAK (or BK) file extension normally represents files that are backup copies of other file. There is no 'standard' file format for BAK files. BAK files can represent virtually anything.

This link will take you to an on-line storage of software I have. Download and run easyrecovery pro. Select E-Mail repair. Select Outlook express.
