The printer will turn on, I am able to switch from copy to fax to scan ( as each option has its own button,) however if I try to print anything, lets say a document from the internet, or even a picture that I scanned -- the computer says the job is being printed, but the printer itself doesn't flinch. Then if I try and delete the job, the printer icon that shows the status says 'deleting-printer' and its stays that way no matter how many times I try and delete it. My question is why is the printer not recieving printing jobs even though the computer is apparently sending them? There is an obvious lack of communication somewhere, please help me if you can!
What you can do is disconnect the usb cable. Unplug the power cord at the back of the printer. Delete the printer icon. Make sure there are no pending documents on the queue so you could delete the icon. If you cannot delete the icon, just restart the pc. After the printer icon is completely deleted, insert the cd and add a device. It will prompt you to connect the usb cable. after the adding of device is successful, try printing a test page first before you print your document

on the printer itself --> press the setup button--> use the arrow keys on the printer and move to print report option --> press ok when you select print report--> Find out fax confirmation option and press ok --> turn it on.
If you do not find the Fax confirmation option under print report then find it under Tools option.
Press setup on printer --> press arrow key on printer and finid tools --> under that try to find the fax confirmation option.
once you switch on the fax confirmation option on the printer. every time you send a fax you will receive a fax confirmation also.
You do not have the print/scan option installed on your copier. If you did you would have an ethernet port on the machine for network access and when you press the print/scan button on the control panel you would be able to access those functions. The fact that you can not means that the machine can not see that option because it is not installed. The parallel port is common and is used for uploading of firmware into the machine.
Thank You for using Fixya.
Hi, I assume you have Vista and when the scan button is pressed on the product, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly.
Workaround Choose one of the following options to scan without using the scan button.

Click the Windows icon (), click Programs, and then click Windows Fax and Scan.
The Windows Fax and Scanoption is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editionsof Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition ofWindows Vista, skip to Option two: Scan using Paint.
Click New scan.
Click File, and then click Scan.
Option two: Scan using Paint
Click the Windows icon (), click Programs, and then click Accessories.
Click File, and then click From Scanner or Camera.
The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product.
If you get an Out of Memory message while scanning a subsequent page, you will have the option to press Start to copy the pages scanned so far, or to press Stop/Exit to cancel the operation. To gain extra memory, choose one of the solutions below: Print the faxes that are in the memory. (See Printing a fax from the memory on page 45.) You can turn off Fax Storage. (See Turning off Remote Fax Options on page 65.) Add an optional memory (See Memory Board on page 98.)
