Question about GE Profile WPSR3120WWW

Not spinning thanks for the tip. However upon further inspection I found that the motor does spinin the oposite direction, but what is happening is you can see the motor shaft turning counter clockwise but the clutch hub does not move. You can hear it spinning in itself and the housing gets hot. There is no oil from the tranny getting on it. l thought that if the clutch was bad the machine would not aggitate as well?

OK, if the motor is spinning but not turning the clutch hub, that means the transmission is jammed. You may be able to free it by manually turning the big pulley on the bottom of the transmissiion, but the problem will reoccur. The real solution would be to replace the transmission assembley in this case. (Transmission WH38X1002) Check the last pages of your users manual for warranty info. Warranty will vary based on model and date of manufacture. Typically, transmissions will have a 5 years part only warranty.

My beko washing machine is stuck on the end spin cycle and stops and starts a spin in short bursts.it has water in it and wont move on from this.

Hi jennyandeddy,

Most likely your washing machine is trying to drain, but cannot, and as such cannot start to spin.

Please follow my Tip below, for detailed directions on how to access, drain & clean your Drain Pump Filter (Please Note: Your Filter compartment is located at the Bottom Right):

DRAIN PUMP FILTER

Hope this helps :-)

Washing machine does not spin.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. The motor coupler may be broken. Many washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. A belt may be broken. The clutch may be worn. It may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor. The transmission may not be shifting properly. The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Replace whichever part has gone bad. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Wool sweater got washed and washer stopped before "spin" - has 6" of water still in it - and will now not work. Is it just clogged? You can hear the hum of the motor but nothing happens.

More than likely you broke a belt or a drive coupling. If it is a Frigidaire, Roper, most Maytags, etc it is a belt. If it is a Kenmore, Whirlpool, or a few others made by Whirlpool, it is a drive coupling. Directions for belt change varies. Directions for changing a drive coupling can be found in the one tip I wrote. Search my tips and you'll find detailed instructions for changing it on a Whirlpool or Kenmore. Good luck.

Kenmore M#110.24292300 motor broke during the spin

Based upon the Model Number that you provided, this unit doesn't have a belt.

It is a basic Top Load, Direct Drive machine.

See the Sears Parts Site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.24292300

The problem is likely the Motor Coupler. See the section of the Sears site with the motor and gearcase.

Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive washers use a "Motor Coupler" between the motor and transmission.

It's used as a fail safe device and consists of three parts.

Two of the parts are the same, plastic units with three prongs that fit on one of the motor output shafts and the other on the transmission input shaft. Between them is a rubber piece with six holes.

The power from the motor is transmitted through the rubber piece to the transmission.

The other shaft on the motor directly drives the pump.

If the motor coupler is broken, or worn, the motor may not be able to send full power to the transmission for agitating or spinning.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet, pump, motor and motor mounting plate to inspect and replace the motor coupler.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

If the coupler looks damaged, it's a relatively easy fix.

Pry the plastic pieces from the motor and transmission. Some people use a claw hammer but I've found that using a small (6 inch) pry bar works well.

Carefully fit the plastic pieces over the motor and transmission shafts and press them in place (Use a 1/2" of larger socket to put pressure equally around the pieces.

Put the rubber piece on the transmission plastic piece.

Replace the motor mounting plate.

Carefully line up the plastic prongs on the motor based plastic piece to the three un-used holes in the rubber piece. If they don't line up right, the coupler could be damaged.

Mount the motor, don't forget the two screws, put the pump back on the motor and use its' clips.

Put the cabinet back on, don't forget to plug the lid switch back in and re-mount the console.

Dosen't spin with clothes in. works well without clothes

What you have is a bad thrust bearing. The main drive pulley and assorted washers act to release the brake in the spin mode. In the wash mode the tub must be locked down or the clothes would wrap around the agitaor and knot up real bad. The motor turns in the oposite direction to spin and when it foes a cam riser in the main puley releases the brake package and pumps out while spinning. I have a detailed repair sequence with photos, manual, and directions HERE

Won'i\t spin or agitate. was working fine-went

Hi..

if agitator movement is weak or moves in only one direction check the following:

  • Inspect the agitator
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt(belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission
  • Inspect the pump coupling
If drum does not spin check this:

  • Test the lid switch
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the centrifugal switch
  • Test the water level switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission

Good luck !!!

Whirlpool will not spin out water

With it spinining fully it may be as simple as a sock or undergarment in the pump, if it is not spining fully the motor coupler is probably in need of replacement
