Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I have a Fuji FinePix A345. It is out of warranty. I put freshly-charged batteries in, take one or two pics, then get a low batter-reading, followed by the camera shutting off power. I took batteries out, checked them on a battery tester, and they both still had a full charge (2500 mAh), but camera won't even turn on. I was just reading consumer reviews on the A345 advertising page. Apparently this model can be a real lemon. Anything I can do to fix the camera? Or do I just toss it and buy another brand? I used to have a Fuji FinePix A100 and it was awesome. I used it to take hundreds and hundreds of pics over a period of about 3 years. Finally, the lens stopped popping out when turned on. Was I just lucky with this one b/c the A345 is getting terrible reviews. And apparently Fuji won't stand behind their product.

The zoom lens on my A345 has been intermittently sticking for years. Finally it would only pop out about 5mm. I took my courage in my hands and put 1 drop of very light oil (sewing machine oil) on a cotton bud and wiped it over the visible parts of the lens cylinders. Switching it off the barrel retracted, and when switching on it extended fully. I wiped the same bud (without adding any more oil) over every exposed parts of the barrels. It's not failed yet, but it's early days...

I have a FinePix A345 camera and have had it for years. I took pics all day today and then when I went to look at them tonight, my camera read "card not initialized" I can't retrieve or take...

First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.

Your camera is not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try the one at THIS LINK

If the pictures are very important to you, you might want to seek help from an experienced person.

I think I've solved the same problem on a Finepix A350. My shutter has been sticking for months now on powerup. I brushed all round the periphery of the shutter with a perfectly clean, small, camel hair brush and now it operates perfectly! So maybe the answer is to keep a new brush specially for this. Hope this works for you! I certainly would not try dropping the camera as someone suggested.

Check to make sure your battery pins are touching the connections on the battery. You might have to bend them slightly towards the battery to make a better connection. Else, I would get in touch with Fuji's support team. Good luck. -JHOBBS

My A345 finepix camera isn't working screen is black

If you haven't tried already, try changing the batteries to high-drain Nimh or Energiser 2800MAh batteries. I had loads of problems with my camera until I put stronger batteries in it, now it works wonderfully again.

Fuji A345 finepix

As batteries are recharged- they develop a 'memory' That is to say starting with a new fully charged battery- the 'low' light may come in when the voltage drops below a certain value. The battery is not however fully discharged. It could have say 25% residual in it. When recharging- the charger is charging the 75% only, and on the next recharge- that mush less again until the battery is only offering a small percentage of its capacity. The answer is to put the low battery in a simple device - a torch - until it is completely down Then recharge - you will then get the full capacity of the battery. Meanwhile do contact the Tech support of the manufacturer just in case there is a known problem with a given model.
