I have just posted my convergence problem on the website. The red color is all over the place on the screen and I am seeing ghost images in red. Autofocus didnt help. I used the remote and went into the setup menu and tried to solve the convergence 'red' problem but that didnt help. The TV was purchased in Dec 2002. I am not a DIY person...so any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Re: Samsung Tantus HCM 22 convergence problem
Check this website to buy the entire convergence amplifier board. Replacing the entire boars is a DIY since there isn't any soldering involve only open back cover of the TV and unplug a few wires to remove the old board and install the new one. Keep in mind that this board could be used or reburbished. Samsung no longer has the assembly.

If this is a tube set--and it sounds like it it--it likely needs convergence chips. IF the color and picture was ok before this happened--it is worth a look, but if it was getting dull and fuzzy, BEFORE the convergence problem--it needs tubes and is NOT worth repair.
Hi, first thing you need to do is re-post with the model number of your set, sounds like convergence has failed and if so you WILL NEED the original remote and a pair of convergence IC`s, post your model number and I will look up the part numbers for you,
Since you said that you are not a DIY person, I suggested to replace the entire assembly, but if you know how to de-solder and solder you can just replace the STK392-040 ICs and a few resistors to fix the convergence issue.
If you're planning to do it yourself, I would suggest to label every wire you disconnect from the TV; for example put # 1 on the wire and # 1 where you remove it from.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
