Just want to let folks know again that the firmware upgrade to the Optio30 to correct the software problem must be installed BEFORE the focus problem occurs. After 3 cameras that locked up, I installed the software before I used the 4th and have had no problems with hundreds of pictures in all capture modes.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I have a similar problem in the same camera: all hardware is ok but it doesn't focus. I've taked out the focus motor and it works, and all the pieces works too, they're not damaged, in fact wth the motor out I can focus manualy the picture. So I think it could be a firmware problem, but the OLYMPUS software doesn't leave me to write the same version of firmware, and there's no new versions, so is there any way to rewrite the same version of fw????? any service program?
No. There are hardware difference between the SD and SDHC specs that cannot be overcome by firmware changes. While SD cards will work in SDHC devices, there is nothing that can be done to make SDHC cards work in SD devices.
I know that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.
According to the Pentax web site, there is no firmware update available for the 33LF camera. As far as your pics are concerned, you can use a card reader to download them to your computer. Then, you can format the card in the camera and everything should be ok.
Firmware upgrade is a simple but a delicate procedure. Make sure you are loading the correct firmware. You should get your firmware from the website of your router. Installing a THIRD PARTY firmware to your router voids the warranty of your router. Here is a tip for a successful firmware upgrade. BEFORE FIRMWARE UPGRADE(push the reset button of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power of the router for 10 seconds). Upgrade the firmware. After the upgrade push the reset button again for 30seconds, unplug power for 10 seconds.

Power Supply during Update:
When performing the software update, please use a set of fully charged NI-MH (nickel hydrogen) batteries or the AC Adapter AC-1L or AC-2L (sold separately). When using the AC Adapter, be sure not to inadvertently disconnect the camera during the software updating procedure, otherwise the camera may be permanently damaged.
Amendment to the DiMAGE 7 Upgrade Software manual…
(Located on an insertion card within Upgrade Kit and Upgrade Firmware boxes)
For Windows XP users:
Do not copy the dsc.app and ram.bin files directly from the CD-ROM to the CF card or the upgrade will not be executed correctly. First copy these two files onto the computer’s hard drive or desktop, and then copy them into the CF card.
When the camera is turned to the playback mode, the no-image message appears and the images taken before the upgrade are not displayed. These images were placed in a folder with names ending in MLT03, the upgraded camera places images in folders ending in MLT14, see CompactFlash card folder organization in the DiMAGE 7 manual. To view images taken before the upgrade, select the appropriate folder in the custom 1 section of the setup menu. Refer to DiMAGE 7 manual for a description of this function.
When using autofocus with the wide focus frame, the live image may freeze for an instant as the AF system determines the focus. This is because autofocus speed is increased

Optio 33LF Firmware Upgrade Information & Instructions:
This firmware corrects "camera freezing & cannot display images" issues with Sandisk & Black's 128MB & 256MB Secure Digital Cards. This problem is occurred because Sandisk changed the manufacturing location from the Philippine's to China during production of the Optio 33LF. They also change the electronic chip used the SD Card which caused a compatibility problems with Pentax, Minolta, Palm and other digital device manufacturers. In turn this also caused a problem with Black's SD Cards as they are manufactured by Sandisk. Therefore, we had to release a Firmware Upgrade for the Optio 33LF to correct compatibility issues with these SD Cards.
