Whirpool Ultimate Care II -- No Drain/No Spin

Mike: I took a "guests" advice first which was that it was a lid switch. I stuck a clothespin in the hole and then leaned the lid on it and suddenly it was draining and spinning. Do you know if this is a part I can purchase and have my husband install, or do I need a repairman. The machine is about 8 years old and I'm not prepared YET to buy a new one. Any advice you can offer would be great. Thanks! Diane B.

Not a major project..remove 2 screws in rear of console lift and roll console back ..remove plug in cabinet to switch and pop clips out each corner ..cabinet can then be lened forward and removed allowing access to switch

What happens if the lid switch is laying there? Stupid I know?

Hello, if the lid switch becomes disconnected or moves from where it should be you machine will not spin or drain, some machines will not agitate either, The lid switch is basically there for your safety so you don't open it while it is in a high speed spin. Hope this helps. Mike

Whirpool Washer LSQ9500LQ0 Won't Spin or Drain

Your belt assessment sounds correct on the dryer problem.
If you can, restore the lid switch connections, and operate the switch during what should be spin. You should be able to hear a relay or solenoid clicking off and on with the switch.

Won't spin, won't drain

Hi...

If your washer does not drain, you need to check this:

  • Inspect the drain hose for kinks
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the lid switch (some models)
  • Inspect the water pump
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect the motor coupler
If it does not spin check also this:

  • Test the lid switch
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the centrifugal switch
  • Test the water level switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission

Good luck !!!

Washer won't spin or drain

I took the easy advice first. One guest said it was the lid switch. So I opened the lid and put a clothespin in the hole and then leaned the lid on it and guess what??? It began to drain and spin perfectly! PHEW... that saved me some time and money till I can get the switch replaced. THANK YOU "guest" from August 11th!!!

Ultimate II is refusing to go into agtation/wash cycle

It sounds like a bad timer unit, and possibly a lid switch.

As far as the water overfilling, that may be an unrelated problem, such as the water level switch... but most likely the timer.

I have the same model, and it wouldn't drain.. and it would try to spin when full of water... an interesting sight to see!
