Question about Samsung HT-X40 System
My samsung HT-X40 home theater surround sound system started smoking and produced a strong odor of burning plastic. I noticed that the fan at the back of the unit had stopped, leading me to believe it is the problem.
Here's how I fixed mine:
I modded an old fan to have the same connector as the dead fan, and slapped that in. That ended up being loud and having a large buzz, in addition to not pushing much air. So, I cut a 120mm circular hole in the top of the case, removed the shroud over all the capacitors, put the case back on, mounted a slimline fan and made a nice little chimney setup. not pretty, but that means i don't have to buy a new receiver.
Short of that:
1. take it to a repair shop.
2. Buy a new receiver.
