Hello all, Hope everyone is fine. I have a kingston 4 GB pendrive. My system got shutdown while my pendrive is connect to it. Now this pendrive is not detecting on any systems. Can any one help me how to...

Hi there,

your pendrive might have been burned due to a surge.. I have experienced this but the problem was the USB drive itself, the technician who assembled the desktop interchanged the USB connections making it very destructive to plug in any USB device.

Kingston usually has warranty. Have it replaced on the nearest service center or at the very least have it repaired. I wouldnt recommend you opening it unless you wanted to see the real cause. If it smells burnt then chances are your data is lost or the thumbdrive wouldnt work.

If it can no longer be detected in any system and your warranty is out and if you're desperate to have it fixed, you can bring it to any cellular repair shop, have them open it and check for burns.. Hope they have a means of retrieving it.

Hope this provides any help,

HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
well what can that be , many things
pendrive (a usb port memory stick, and not real DRIVE?)

test it on other pc yet. why not? its failing test it.
many USB mem stick fail due to corrupted files on it.
(removing it incorrectly cause that)

what OS? , you posted with NO OS Stated, at all. XP?
all ports fail on this Laptop?
do other USB sticks fail....>? or USB keyboards, or mice?

the HP OS restore features started about year 2006
called the F11 recovery mode. (that?)
you said.
"but window formatting does not make it work,"
what does that mean, by what means? who done?
using what media or F11 magic key.?

I say the PC is XP? and we all know XP has Horrible
USB support, and NOW worse MS shut down XP servers
for the USB devices, (and more) so will hang when
doing PnP "plug and Pray" driver from there.
XP is DEAD, you do know that right? XP and VISTA are
now DEAD.

recap:
1: the Stick fails on all USB ports.
2: the stick fails in othe PCs
3: running XP and expecting things to work. HAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAH (the endless dream?)

my XP works on one PC, but I had to make sure I had all drivers perfect , from each chip maker,
MS and HP dont have them so takes hard work

4: is the Device manager in control panel clear of al errors"

this PC is 10 years old
HP retired it, official
XP is retired at HP and MS.
that PC came new with F11 magic recover key.

the HP manual (covers XP and VISTA )
is still there, will be deleted soon... hint hint..

Pendrive write protection removing

Hey, the transcend pen drives usually have a small switch on the side of it, ie to turn the write protect on and off, usually a small lock symbol on it, the problem with unreadable files names etc, could be a corrupt partition, i would suggest formatting the drive as long as you aint got any important information on it,

All the best

helo frind

1. Windows Xp installation disk
2. Access to PC with working CD Cd-ROM DVD drive.
3. This file solution.rar

This guide is for people with basic knowledge of PC hardware and system software
Let's start.

1. Download solution.rar file
2. Unpack solution.rar file on drive C, you should have a folder named C:\Dos
3. Put your pendrive ( at least 1GB) into working PC USB port
4. Go to the folder C:\Dos and run HpUSBformat.exe file
- it should auto detect wyour pendrive disk, if not select form the list ( my pendrive is a drive G: )
- set other options like on the image below and click start.

- now you have a pendrive with bootable dos on it.
5. Copy all other files from C:/Dos to your pendrive. ( you can overwrite existing ones)
- your pendrive should look like that

6. Put your Windows Xp installation disk into Cdrom and copy all files from CD to pendrive.

"Communications Error 608"

If you put the Toshiba Pocket PC e740 in your USB Cradle you may receive a "Communication Error 608". This is not a serious error, it is just a false setting in the ActiveSync Program. Please follow these steps below to correct this problem: "Tap" on start and choose the ActiveSync program Then "tap" on "Tools" and choose "Options" in the ActiveSync Program Check under "Enable synchronization when cradled using" to see if the setting is on "USB" If it is set on "Bluetooth", please change it to "USB". Now you can close the application window Important: Please remove the Pocket PC from the cradle and then return it to the cradle. This activates the new setting Important to note: This above described issue occurs if you "tap" accidently on the Bluetooth Icon in the Program Group or activate Bluetooth of any other reason, the ActiveSync Option will be set to "Bluetooth" instead of "USB". This setting will cause the "error 608" if you put in the Pocket PC e740 in the Cradle and start to synchronize over USB.
