HP C5280 Paper feed not working

Hi,

We have a HP C5280 that is only a few months old but unfortunately the paper feed stopped working. It says now printing - then I hear a grinding noise - then it says out of paper - but it has paper? I would guess the printer has a bad gear? Any other options? Thanks! Dave

I have exactly the same issue. I have been using Kodak paper and not HP. I will buy some HP paper to rule that in or out as an issue.

Turn it upside down to see if there is anything stuck in it. Open the lid and look inside to see if anything is stuck or loose, such as cartridges not sitting correctly.

Why is my printer printing half of page on cardstock

If you are feeding it through like you would with normal weight paper than you are always going to get this. Most printers have a secondary feed point for heavy stock paper. Usually in the back.

Its sounds like possibly the paper feed rollers are warn and the paper maynot be feeding though smoothly which could cause problems like your experiancing.

Thanks

Problems with the paper feed.

I had this same problem with my HP 2575 printer. I complained very strongly to HP and they sent me (free of any charges) an HP Paper Cleaning Kit. Took about 20 minutes to clean and rough up a rubber feeding roll in the printer. VOILA-- printer has been feeding perfectly for over a year. A friend of mine with the same printer, had the same problem. He used it and now has no problem. You will have to get after HP and have them send you the Kit. Hope this helps you out. SANS

HP Photosmart C5280 printer - 1 month old not printing correctly

Usually this problem is indicative of a clogged nozzle. I'm not sure about the track record of the Photosmart C5280 (a lot of Epson printers have this problem, and you just have to keep replacing the ink cartridges). I'm going to assume you tried this, but go ahead and run a few cleaning cycles on the printer, and see what happens.
