Blown lamps on two Teac P1250 CD players

I've never worked on one of these and can't find a free download of the service manual. So no exact answer for you, but here's a suggestion. Measure the supply voltage to the lamps where they connect to the PC board. I've found most receivers and other equipment to be 6 to 8 VAC, but these may be different. Then try to get one of the lamps out to see what style it is. It will probably turn out to be a submini lamp with pigtail leads soldered right onto the board behind the readout. (This probably means some fun getting to the display, but maybe this one was made for easy easy access.) Companies like MAT Electronics, MCM, Digi-Key and others have replacements available that should be close enough to the originals to work.

If there's room available, I'd recommend putting an LED in as a replacement. Once you know what the supply voltage is, you can figure the size resistor you need and find a place for it. I've done this on some other brands and types of equipment and it usually means you'll never have to deal with the display going dark again.

One other option is to purchase the service manual ($14.99 was the price I found at 3 online manual sites for download). Then you'd be able to find the exact part number and see if you can locate exact replacements. But that price will cover a bunch of LEDs.

TEAC CD player jammed

I had the same problem in 2007: I removed the cover and manually encouraged the cd drawer to open. It has been working ever since.
