Question about Roper REX4634KQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer only runs 10 seconds then cuts off

I bought a Roper dryer in January of 2007 and only used it for about 6 months. I moved and put it into storage. I just recently moved into a new house and when we plugged the dryer in and cut it on it was making a horrible loud noise. It will only run for about 5-10 seconds and then cuts off. When you push the button to turn it back on after it goes off, nothing happens. After it sits for about a minute, you can cut it back on but it does the same thing. Any ideas what might be happening?

DEAR FRIEND,
ngfam1 here for you!
I am happy to be of assistance!

It sounds like one of the wheels that the drum rolls on is hanging up !!

Here is the service company I refer my appliance customers too!
A&E Factory Service
A Nation Wide Company. / Available 24 / 7 for arranging appointments! In the USA.

If this dryer is 10 years old or more do not spend any money on it!
The new ones are much more efficient! If you have to replace it buy a Speed Queen , it will do 8 loads a week for 25 years!
It's the last washer and dryer I will ever buy!!!! And less expensive than a top of the line unit!

Good luck!
You will be fine now!

Thank You
Bless you,ngfam1

See my tip for buzzing dryer. Check Owner's manual, Troubleshooting. Sounds like air is not moveing and High temp cut off saftey switch doesn't like the lack of air flow. Duct clean? Check air flow from the outdoor vent. Clean vent tube/s

Roper Dryer won't heat

check the upper and lower limit switches on the heating duct. they act like fuses and and pop if the go bad. to check. first unplug dryer then remove back panel. the heat tube should be on the right and have two disc looking things with two wires going to them. check top one first. pull wires off and with jumper wire connect the two wires together. now plug dryer in and check to see if it heats. if not check the lower one. do not run dryer for longer then i takes to see if coils heat up. if still no heat then u need to pull heating element off and check for an open in the coil.

Roper dryer

Based on your desription... one of the thermal sensors is overheating , tripping..shutting you down until it cools down enough to reset itself... then you can run it again.. and that process repeats.. You may have a defective thermal switch... Hope that helps...
