Make sure the little plastic piece is not sticking. It is located on the far side of the drive it is really small and it may be broke or just stuck in the inward position

Dell dvd drawer won't close

Replace the drive. Seems to be a firmware issue with it or the eject switch is damaged.

HI. My Acer Aspire 3500 DVD drawer was I guess off track. The drawer wouldn't open so I pried it open. Now it won't stay shut and when it is shut I can't open it unless I use a paper clip.

There is very little you can, these items in general cannot be repaired. Go to www.ebay.com Type make and model of laptop, refine search to cd/dvd driver.

Door on DVD player

The drawer seems to hang up when it sits closed for a while. I found that using a very thin but rigid metal item such as a nail file under the leading edge, allows it to open with the first press of the  open/close button. I load the DVD, press the open/close button and it closes and stays shut.  After I submitted my problem, it occured to me that the reason for the door to continue to open and  close, was the repeated pressing of the button. The door was merely responding to each time it was "called."

Cd/dvd drive won't stay shut

I have the dv9000z. If I do NOT push the DVD drive tray all the way in until it CLICKS shut, then it OPENS again after 1-2 seconds. This is normal. I have found that most times when I close the DVD tray drive, I am not pushing it in far enough, because the top of the DVD tray is rubbing against the laptop's case. If I just press down VERY SLIGHTLY and push the DVD tray in, the tray will fully close and CLICK shut. This works for me. Good luck.
