Question about Toshiba e740 Pocket PC

E740 won't turn on

Until two days ago my e740 was working near perfectly, only the usual minor problems that occur with any electronic device. however, on wednesday morning I tried to turn the unit on and it did not respond. I tried resetting it first soft then hard and then eventually it turned on only to freeze. when I pressed the power botton it did a reset once again. I mananaged to install my backup with no problems but throughout the day it kept on freezing. I have continued to have these problems today. The only way i have been able to make it that the problem does not continue is to make sure my ppc stays on, which is obviously a power drain when a plug isn't available. I think it is a battery problem.

Is there a freezing problem if the PDA is on cradle? I am not sure but it can be battery problem. I don’t know how old is your PDA but you should contact service partner and let them check the unit.

I recently replaced my Intermatic EJ500 with a new unit, I noticed it works perfectly fine for one day then the batteries that control the timer drain completely the following day, what could it be?

Line voltage usually controls the timer functions when properly wired until a power outage occurs; then battery power takes over until utility power is restored. Should utility power be off for an extended period of time, eventually the battery will drain completely
Double check to make sure you wired your wall switch timer properly.
Make sure there are no loose wiring connections.
Even though you purchased a new replacement timer wall switch, it could be a manufacturer's defect.
Has your home electrical system experienced any signal spikes? Electronic components are very sensitive to impulse spikes/surges and can be damaged very easily.
If you are experiencing surges or spikes, perhaps investing in a whole house surge protection system (Intermatic IG series) would be the way to go as well. It'll protect all your electronic devices and appliances through-out the house.

We have a Samsung SMH1816S Microwave and about a month ago we had a scheduled power outage. Right after we noticed that every time we open the microwave door, the fan runs. It doesn't sound quite right,...

Likely an electronic component has failed. It sounds strange, but this sometimes occurs to electronic devices that had been previously working just fine -until it is removed from power. When power is restored, the device fails. This type of behaviour is normally associated with power surges, but it can simply happen to electronic devices that have been in service for a while. Have you ever noticed an incandescent light bulb "blow" when you switch the light on? Unfortunately, the controller circuit board will require replacement, which may not be economical.

Hi. i lost my sound on hp dv 8113 cl few days ago

  • Hi, the best thing to do at this point is perform a "System Restore." Try to remember the exact "Date before the problem occur, or once you start the System Restore, ("pick a date going back more than 5 days"), check the dates and see if any of the dates seem familar. Pick the closest date prior to the "Sound going out!" Type in the "Search Window" from the start menu: system restore; scroll to find, and open. Follow all the instructions carefully for the process to be successful. "Hope it works out for you; if so rating the help will let me know, thanks."

Hi, I noticed that the firmware that you have is not the latest, the last provided was 1.0623.049 which was released a few years ago. I would install this, in addition to the other patches from the Toshiba web site. Hopefully this will overwrite any software quirks for you. regards, Keith
