PLEASE, I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL DRYER DWSR-ELE-2406026-CV54, THE QUESTION IS HOW MANY PHASE HAVE FOR POWER SUPPLY?

It requires two hot wires measuring 240 volts across them and 120 volts from either of them to the neutral connection. Some people refer to the two 'hots' as 'two-phase' and some refer to it as 'single-phase'. At any rate, you do NOT have three phase requirements with that dryer.

Most of the dryers have a 120volt motor which is why you need two hots and a neutral. To complicate matters, recent changes to the code now require 4 wires on newly constructed structures. Two hots, a neutral AND a bare ground wire.

My Kenmore Elite 110.62932100 won't tumble or heat up.

try the homes 240volt circuit breaker it may not show its tripped but one of the 2 phases can trip out, (just reset the breaker) and if this happens either the dryer drum motor will turn or the timer will run, but not both as these 2 components each use 1 of the 2 phases 120 volts to run,but the heating element needs both 120volt phases for 240volts for the heating element to heat, this is what your issue sounds like to me,hope this helps

I have a electric dryer Model WED5810SW0 THAT I WAS TOLD I COULD CONVERT TO 120V from 240v is this true and if so how do i do this?

If you consider doing this the first thing is SHUT THE MAIN BREAKER OFF. Use an auxiliary light source to see when working in a dead panel. Always keep in mind an ARC FLASH ACROSS HOT MAINS HAS ENOUGH HEAT TO PEAL THE SKIN OFF OF YOU. Before an explanation of how to do it you should keep in mind that this is for a single receptacle only. If any other receptacles are on the same circuit they will also be changed to 240 volt receptacles and if you plug any 120 volt device into them, the 120 volt device will be destroyed. That said OK, any 120 volt outlet can be changed to 240 volt by removing the 120 volt circuits neutral, re identifying the white wire with red or black phase tape and connecting it to a new 2 pole 15 amp breaker. The maximum that this circuit will now load up to is, on #14 wire at 80% = 12 amps at 240 volts. The 120V receptacle must be changed to a 15A - 240V receptacle so that 120 volt devices can not be plugged into it. Never use 2 single pole breakers together because code requires that on a fault trip both legs of the 240V circuit must be disconnected simultaneously. A step down voltage converter is a 220 to 110 volts converter. A step up converter is a 110 volts to 220 volts converter. Our 2-way converters are voltage transformers that convert power from both 220 to 110 volts and 110 to 220 volts. They also work with 100 volts, 110 volts, 120 volts, 220 volts and 240 volts. DRYER: Switched a 3 prong to a 4 prong and heard a pop when pluged into the wall. I then noticed my hot and cold wire were mixed up. Fixed the switch and nothing works now. Breaker switched off and on many...

Hi - why did you convert the plugs in the first place? In elctricity theres no such term as hot or cold wires. Besides what do you mean by a 4 prong or 3 prong? electrical equipments are designed to operate on 3 pin single phase power or a 4/5 pin three phase systems.

the voltages in both systems are totally different pending on where you live - 110v or 230v for a single phase or 230v - 415v three phases.

A single phase cannot be converted to the three phases or vise versa unless you use sophisticated electronics to do so. Unless you know what you are doing you can modify the 3 pin to opertae safely on a 4 pin by choosing the correct conductors in relation to the three wire conductors in the 3 pin plug.

The sad story for you is this will be a rather expensive lesson - I wont be surprise if the extra voltage has zapped some of the components in your machine.

THE BEST ADVICE I CAN OFFER YOU RIGHT NOW IS TO EMPLOY THE SERVICES OF SOMEBODY TO HELP YOU OUT - ALTERNATIVELY AS YOU STATED "BUYING AN OVER $1000 DRYER"

Bought LG DLE2532W Dryer it in Canada, need to use it in Europe

For to use it with a 220/ 240vac system, you will need to convert 110vac 60hz/to240vac 50 hertz single phase therfore your transformer should have this rating, also it has to be able to handle up to 3kw or 3000watts in power, maybe just as cheap buying a new drier....

How do you install a 3 prong power supply cord to a GE Dryer?

DO NOT CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY CORD.
you can't change the power supply cord.
the cord came with the dryer is 240v. the three prong is 120v. the dryer will burn up. if you change the power cord without changing the regulator , motor, and the heating element.
you need to get a electrician to run a 240v double breaker from the panel to the dryer.

Electrical requirements for a Nexxt MO# WTMC 5321US

it would be simpler and cheaper to get a new dryer
most of the world uses a single phase 240v 50hz system, your dryer is designed to run on a 2phase 120v 90degree system.
the common statement that high voltage items like dryers use 220-240v is not strictly true, instead they run off both 120v phases of the 2phase system.
A transformer to produce a 2phase 90degree 120v 20A secondary from a 240v single phase source is expensive and very large.
It would be cheaper by far, to sell the dryer, and replace it with the equivalent model built for 240v single phase, than to buy the transformer and ship the dryer.

Using dryer in 220V country

There are two systems in use in the states
110v dryers are available that fit a standard 11v 15a socket
110/220v fit the oversize 'dryer' sockets, and they are two 110v phases 90 degreees apart
the motor runs of a single phase 110v.
there is 220v between the 'outside', the active lines of the two phases, at any time, but it is not useable to provide mechanical power as a single service, due to the complicated shape of the wave form when you add out of phase voltages together, but is ok to drive the heaters, they have no mechanical efficiency requirement
A 2 phase 110v heater it means 3kw can be supplied without a 30 amp circuit
but it becomes difficult to use a single phase 220-240v transformer to provide 2x110v 90degree 2 phase current unless you specially buy one in. .
High power applications in 220-240v are generally supplied by 415v 3 phase 60deg supplies,

Any transformer would be onsellable at the end of your posting, to your replacement, who would doubtless be in the same boat as you, with a heap of 'stuff' that needs to run.

UK Aus NZ may be sources of transformers, or dryers to suit.
check with Australian UK NZ suppliers as well as local Indian ones, as those countries are also nominal 240v single phase home suplies and they may have (1) the dryer, or (2)the transformer to suit the 110 2 phase dryer

Using dryer in 220volt country

Bombay is 240v single phase, the three wires in the socket are active neutral and earth, not as the 2*110v90degree two phase American circuit active1 active2 and neutral
.
If the transformer is designed for American use, it does not step down 220v,
it instead takes a 2*110v90degree 2 phase supply and produces a high current 110v single phase output, by setting both input phases electrically 90degrees apart on a common primary winding.
This is not compatible.

replace the dryer, cheaper faster safer
should have left in Houston
