We have gas under floor heating. The main thermostat controll has FEL by Honeywell on it. It is about 6 months old. We don't appear to have any manual or instructions on how to set the the thermostat to run automaticaly. Can you help with a manual or set of instructions. Regards Ron tman_nz@yahoo.co.nz

My round Honeywell T-87 on the main floor(middle) of the house has no ON/OFF switch. It controls the temp of that level of the house and even though it is set at 60, the temp is way too high and reads 74....

What you are describing is the Heat Anticipator. It is a small resistor that helps the thermostat from overshooting the set temperature by heating up and shutting off the thermostat just before your set temperature. I don't think that is related to your over heat. 14 degrees is a lot and the Heat Anticipator will only effect it 4 or 5 degrees. I would remove the thermostat and check if there is a call for heat. If so, you have a shorted wire. If not, replace the thermostat.

the two wires are hooked to the baseplate at the R terminal and the W terminal. there may be a switch somewhere on thermostat for electric or gas heat. make sure its in gas mode. make sure batteries are fresh and put in correctly in regards to polarity. make sure furnace is on when doing any settings with the thermostat. make sure themostat is set to "heat". make sure themostat is calling for heat (turn way up to be sure its doing that) . check the troubleshooting guide that came with the new thermostat.

Need to know which terminals run what

Had similar problem, continuous fan, turn off power, then won't start up. Replaced thermostat, no change. The main controller board in the furnace went bad. What was weird was that it happened in the summer, while the heat was turned off. One day I noticed that the fan was running. The thermostat was in the off position, and I had to shut off power to the furnace to make it stop. I forgot about it till heating season came along and it wouldn't start up. The preliminary blower would start, the gas would click on, it would light, then quit. After tracing and checking the various safety switches, etc. it became apparrent the main board was bad. I found one on ebay, replaced it, [a simple job, unplug, a few screws, replug] and it's been working fine..good luck, John
