It's the VGA to Monitor problem.

Check:
1. VGA port: connect it with other monitor. Check if other monitor show same pattern then better get the motherboard replaced.
2. Check the cable connection, is the lines pattern changed if you touch or move the cable?
3. Check the monitor. Is it O.K with other PC?

Not good. You may have a tab failure. A repair shop may be able to diagnose and repair this, but most likely the lcd panel is broken. The panel is the most expensive part of flat tv's. A new panel will cost more than a used tv.

Maxent no place to connect to cable.

Simplest way I can think of, if you will have to get an HDMI cable box from your local cable service provider and just hook it up threw HDMI. There's your cable and in HD when available HD programing is on. :)

On my Maxent television there is not co-axial hook-up for cable connection. The cable company does not have a tuner box, what should I do to get it working?

If you have a vcr ,you can come out of the line out of the vcr.the cable box would hook to the vcr,out of the vcr to the tv. this might help

Maxent plasma tv is showing only vertical lines.

Common problem on these sets are many many bad caps on the digital board. Repair kits are available for these containing the necessary parts if you're savvy with a soldering iron. Otherwise, replacement of the digital board is necessary and you'll have to contact either Maxent or a local repair shop. Tracking down which caps are bad can be difficult even with the right equipment as some tend to check good while in circuit when they are actually bad.

Maxent 27" LCD Flat Screen TV

It sounds as if it has a video processing problem or the LCD panel is going bad. Can you feel the scratches? If not it is in the panel. Also it could also be the set top box or cable box if you are using one. Also try another source like a DVD player. If it is still there, then it sounds like what i stated above. Good luck and keep me posted. Guru Jay

Maxent 27" LCD Flat Screen TV

This is a fault i have seen with phillips lcd tv's and i suspect it could be the lcd screen itself, the ribbon cables from the screen are heat contacted on to a circuit board and there could be anything from 10 to 15 of these ribon cables and over a period of time the heat generated from the internal panels will deteriorate the plastic ribbon cables.
Try twisting the screen gently by placing your left hand on the top left hand corner and your right hand on the top right hand corner and gently twisting,if the lines go and then come back after you let go then a new screen will be required but it may be cheaper to buy a new one, could be worth buying the extended warrenty.

Horizontal lines on Screen

here's something you can try...remove the back and notice that there are ribbon cables (FRAGILE!) on the right and left side...alot of times these cables develope bad connections and cause the lines you see...other times the panel will be suspect. Removing these ribbon cables and reseating them have helped me determine in the past if it is a bad connection...or a bad panel
