DCP-J125 Uable to print (36)

The message Unable to Print (followed by a two character code) will appear on the display for one of the following reasons:

- Dirty encoder strip

- Foreign object, such as a paper clip or ripped piece of paper, stuck in the machine

- Mechanical malfunction

The most common cause of the issue is dirt on the encoder strip. Clean the encoder strip by doing the following:

CLEAN THE ENCODER STRIP

NOTE: The images shown below are from the representative product. The customer's model may look different from the picture.

1. Locate a lint free cloth such as a T-shirt, DRY eye glass cleaner cloth, DRY monitor cloth or wash cloth.

DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF PAPER PRODUCTS (EX: paper towel, tissue paper, napkin, filter, news paper etc.) This will help ensure the dirt is removed from the encoder strip.

CHECK FOR FOREIGN OBJECTS & PAPER JAMS

2. After thoroughly cleaning the encoder strip, look inside the machine and in the two corners for jammed paper or foreign objects and remove them if any are found. Pieces of paper may be jammed under the print head.

If the print head is locked to the right side of the machine, press and hold the STOP/EXIT key for 5 seconds. This will cause the print head to move automatically to the middle of the machine and allow you to look for debris in the right corner.

3. Leave the scanner OPEN and turn the machine around so you are looking at the back of the machine.

4. Open the Jam Clear Cover and look inside the machine for paper. Remove any jammed paper that appears; then close the Jam Clear Cover and turn the machine back around to the front.

5. Gently close the scanner cover and verify the error message cleared from the display.

If you cleaned the encoder strip ONCE and the message continues to appear on the display, clean the encoder strip again. It is common to clean the encoder strip multiple times to resolve the issue.

If you cleaned the encoder strip at least TWICE and the message continues to appear on the display, unplug the machine from the power outlet for 2 seconds and plug it back in to cycle the power.

TEST THE MACHINE

NOTE: After a paper jam has been cleared, the Brother machine may complete a 2 minute cleaning cycle to remove paper dust from the nozzles before printing.

I'd tried to fix my brother dcp-120c printer, it was unable to print. i followed the instruction of troubleshooting manual but i cant fixed it. the flash display on my LCD is MACHINE 5A. What will i do?

The machine does not work due to a paper jam or some sensor problem.
Clear the paper jam. If the problem still continues after clearing the paper jam, try to clean the encoder strip behind the printer head.

Also, try a reset:

The proper reset code sequence to reset DCP printers without numeric keypad should be as follows:

1. press buttons Set, Menu, Mono Start one by one, followed by up arrow key four times. this should all be done as short a time as possible, around 3 seconds.

2. enter maintenance mode 80 by pressing the up/down arrow key and set key to select numbers 8 and 0

3. press up arrow key several times to get to the Purge item

4. enter 2, 7, 8 and 3 using arrow/set keys to reset the counter

5. press Stop/Exit key to go to root of maintenance mode

6. enter 9,9 to exit maintenance mode

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEN MY PRINTER THE MODEK IS HP LASERJET 3015, THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS, PRINTER JAM CLEAR PAPAER PATH, PLEASE HELP ME TO FIX MY PROBLEM HOW TO SOLVE IT

The laserjet 3015 has a weird issue with the logic board. The paper jam is caused by some sensor issues with the logic board. Some issues may not be fixable. The 2009 series of this printer should be under warranty from HP to get a proper board. On the converse, you could try thicker paper; and set your paper thickness on the printer. If you can open the top cover and then close it; it will reset the sensor.

Ive got un E3 flashing but i dont have any paper jammed please help me

You need to make sure you thorughly chek the paper path. Sometimes a tiny bit of paper is jamming a sensor that throws up the jamm error. Also, a sensor can become stuck and just needs to be freed. Do the above and turn it off/wait 20 sec/turn on. If it does not reset itself and clear the error, try the following:

1) Turn off. Turn on and when the ink carriage begins to move toward the center, quickly unplug the power cord from the rear or the printer. The idea is to stop the movement so that you can move the carriage by hand.

2) There is a 1/4" wide transparent "encoder strip" that runs the length of the printer from left to right. This strip passes through the rear sensors of the carriage, so be sure not to displace it. Using a Q-tip soaked in alcohol, carefully clean the strip on both sides along its entire length. Move the carriage with your hand as needed.

3) Give it a few minutes to dry, then plug it back in and power on.

If none of the above remedy the error, it may be that the pickup roller is slipping and needs cleaning. It's not easily accessible, so use a long Q-tip (type on the wooden stick) with alcohol to reach deep into the printer floor to the pickup roller, push-rotate as you clean. Try test printing again.

When I try to print, the printer says there is a paper jam but there is no paper in the printer. The paper doesn't seem to feed.

This happens when there is something that is trigger the sensor, you will have to clear it out. Even if you look inside briefly and see nothing, there might be a small peace of a partial the is triggering this. Give a good clean out, a very common issue that i came in contact with recently, if you used transparency paper or labels these can get caught on the internal roller, effect the paper jam sensor. This can be very hard to visually see because the paper is thin and clear. I hope this helps, if you would further help please contact me.

I have an Intellifax 2820 and there is an error message of paper jam inside... I have cleaned all paper out of machine... please help me

A jam sensor may be stuck by a paper scrap. Try manually pushing a sheet of paper through the machine IN THE DIRECTION IT IS NORMALLY FED. This may force out any stuck scraps. The jam sensors are usually located where the paper feeds and where it exits the machine. Also, make sure ALL ACCESS PANELS YOU OPENED TO CLEAR JAMS ARE CLOSED PROPERLY. Otherwise, the jam code will not clear.

Noise then paper jam then printer head stops abruptly and does not work at all

Clear the paper jam. Then with a cotton pad and some alcohol, clean all the rollers that you see. If you can get to the rear of the printer, make sure that there isn't any paper residue back there, and also clean the rollers in the back. There is a platen (rod that the print head slides on) clean that too.

Then carefully clean the strip in front of the print head.
Also, never move the print head while the power is on, it will cause the unit to get off it's alignment.

Let me know what results.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
