This strongly indicates the motor capacitor - normally mounted on or close to the motor. easy to replace and a cheap part. also possible motor seized - disconnect from mains and see if motor turns by hand

Whirlpool dishwasher wont wash

if the bottom tub is filling with water but not washing the issues is with the wash motor, some of this model use a start capacitor that can fail, if it has a capacitor on the side of the motor it may have failed but are difficult to diagnose but are cheap to replace so worth trying, if this doesn't help or if it doesn't have a capacitor then the fault is with the wash motor.

Hear a humming sound when the dishwasher turned on. The panel seems to be ok. Model is GU1500'

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If the hum sound is coming from the bottom panel then it is the moto that has gone bad and needs replacement. However, if you hear the sound from the control then it can be due to a bad relay in the control and it is recommended to replace the control completely. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dishwasher fills with hot water then does nothing

Do you get any humming noise when you turn it ON?

How long its been you used the dishwasher last time...?

If you are getting an humming noise then Sounds like the water circulator pump is stuck. The motor tries to turn it (humming noise), but cannot. So a breaker trips (self reset). Not claiming this is actually the problem, but this is what the motor turns.

Our Whirlpool Gold dishwasher does not drain. What

Hello there:
If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:
Drain line/air gap A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again. Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support. Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them. Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water. Other dishwashers reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.
MotorIf the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced. Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced. Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer.

Water does not drain out completely on our model GU1500 Whirlpool Gold dishwasher. This happens about every 4th time we run it. Water is cloudy and about 2" deep in bottom after cycle ends.

there is a PROBLEM with the pump.it is most likely clogged,in which case,it must be removed and cleaned.the pump might also be faulty, and so must be replaced.

Dishwasher fills and heats water, but doesn't wash.

To tell you the truth, I don't even know what model my Whirlpool is. However, I had this same issue. My dishwasher would fill, but it wouldn't spray the water. I could hear it hum, but the motor wasn't going.

After no success finding any ideas online, I had to call out the repairman. Well, 5 minutes and $109 later it was just a simple matter of the motor being stuck. Apparently this is a common issue with GE, but not as common with Whirlpool. Just a seal that gets stuck if you don't use it for awhile (even though there hadn't been any long stretch for me). He reached in/under and turned the motor a bit over a half rotation before it broke loose. It fired up... I wrote the check ... and he left.

He advised me to run the washer on the rinse cycle at least once a week.

Hope that helps someone.

Dishwasher starts to fill then just hums

Sounds like a motor problem. Behind the chopper is an access to the impeller, try turning the impeller or the chopper blade and see if the motor will rotate. If it doesn't, then something is stuck preventing the motor from running.

Get it as tight as you can by hand then give it a 1/4" turn with pliers. You will be good from ther. Do not ovr tigeten and crack the impeller.
