The probability of interconnecting two separate duct networks designed to properly distribute proper air flow with their own air handlers is remote. Is it possible?? Yes. Is it going to work perfectly ?? No. Even if it did, the noise level on a ten ton air handler would be very undesireable in a residence.

As a matter of fact, it may not even be possible depending on how the structure is laid out. A two story with a system in the attic and one in the basement isn't going to interconnect easily for instance...

look at the labels on both for the correct replacements

Hello, if the outside condenser is 2 ton than the inside evap coil should be 2 ton aswell. There are 12,000 btu's per ton and the number 024 in the model # represents btu's per ton so you have a 2 ton unit.

When power is applied to the motor try spinning the fan blade with a small object such as a stick, if this gets the motor going than the capacitor is faulty and must be replaced. The capacitor is located in the outdoor unit.

The unit probable has a dual cap, if you look it will be on the cap somewhere, go to a motor repair shop and they should have it; there can be other starting components that could be bad, do not give up on the comp. until you have extinguished all other possibilities.

The refrigerant needs to be recharged. You will need to call a licensed HVAC mechanic to re-charge it. It requires special tools, special training and if that isn't enough you can't buy the refrigerant without a license. This is a job best left to the professionals.

The actual age of your unit can be determined by the serial number. Based on the age indicated there they can tell you if the warranty is still valid. Your local Rheem/weather king dealer can do this for you. Most compressor warranties are either 5 or 10 years. Good Luck!
