Question about Palm VIIx Handheld
I do a hotsync. The box comes up and says "Connecting to handheld", the second handheld picture is "grayed=out" and then a get an error that says it lost connection. I have changed cradles to see if that is the problem and that doesn't seem to fix it.
SOURCE: Connection is lost (6410)
As previously stated a 6410 error is a comunication error between your Palm and your computer. Uninstalling and reinstalling Palm desktop will do nothing to rectify your issue. You say it stops on recognizing handheld. Do you have another Palm connect USB adapter to try or another computer that has COM ports on it so you can perform a serial HotSync? Under the current configuration you will not be able to perform a complete synchronization. You have a week connection between your Palm and your computer.

SOURCE: Hotsync (on its own) Problem
i have fixed this issue.
you must open up the phone a little ... with a soft tooth brush and clean around the connectors ... you probably spilled something and some rust has made a connection across some of the bus lines near the bottom of the device.
also clean near the bottom on the circuit board almost immediately right next to where the battery is.
