KENMORE PRODUCT REGISTRATION IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ONLINE. ALL CALLS APPEAR TO GO TO THE PHILIPPINES. THE PEOPLE CANNOT PROPERLY SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. I CALLED THE STORE IN MY STATE, AND THE CALLS ARE FORWARDED TO THE PHILIPPINES. SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE PROBLEMS THAT I CANNOT RESOLVE WITH THIS KIND OF LACK OF SERVICE. On my first call, I told the person that I was calling from Maine, and asked
her where she was, as I wanted to speak to someone in Maine, and she
said that ... they are not allowed give out that information ...?????
what on earth is that all about? I have determined that it's because
Sears does not want its customers to know that their customer service
policy ... or lack thereof ... is not even located in our country. All outsourcing is killing this country. I was also trying to find out when my refrigerator was delivered, and get any paperwork on it, and again, the Philippines advises me to call my store, where I am again directed to the Philippines. I am really mad!

You have to request to speak to someone in the US. And ask for an ROR, with any luck you'll connect to a normal human in Tuscon.

Some of them still give you the script - I know, its like talking to robots. I just went through this with about 8 calls and each time they had no prior record that I called. The thing is with the Filipino cust serv is not their ability to read or speak English - its in their comprehension and understanding. Sears is really in the gutter these days and it all stems from there toilet customer service. --BTW I had stateside internal Sears people complaining to me - I guess they even give scripted answers to there own staff - maybe they are robots!!

Christian, simply put ... the lower the percentage the more moisture it will extract. The higher the percentage the less it will extract and just maintain that level.

The lowest level is what you want to use in a wet basement. If the ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 & 60 degrees F, you want to get the dehumidifier up off the floor on to something sturdy, that can handle the weight and the vibration. The reason for this, is that most dehumidifiers will not work well at or between those temperatures. Once the water collection bucket is FULL, the Bucket Full light will come on the the dehumidifier will shut OFF. The bucket most be emptied and properly reinstalled, before the unit will turn ON again. Also, rather than run it in continual mode, run it in a timed mode. Usually either 2 hours of 4 hours.

It seems you don't have the Owner's Manual for this unit. It would be wise to get one. Since it's a Sears Kenmore, you can get it online from Sears Parts Direct. This will help you in the future in performing routine maintenance on the unit.

My Kenmore Dehumidifier Model no. 580.54501400 turns on but I cant adjust anything. It also doesnt collect water or stay on for long. I have cleaned the filter and have done all the simple things so what...


The unit may need to be reset. To do this turn OFF the Master ON/OFF Switch. Unplug the unit from the outlet and wait 12 - 15 minutes. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set your controls as you normally do and if the unit did reset itself, it should work properly. One other thing to take note off, ... Does the unit feel or appear to be overheating? If so, it may need a recharge of refrigerant gas.

I also have a Kenmore pump system 129-25803 but I do not have the manual. I have tried to find one online but to no luck. Call Whirlpool that is most likely who made it they should be able to get you one in the mail either free or a small fee. Also have your model# and Serial# ready which you should find on the dehum. behind the holding tank.
