I don't know how much value you place on the photos you have stuck there but will they copy?
If they are somehow set as hidden or read only, they may a problem.
If they will copy, paste them onto your PC and then use the formatting function whether on the camera or your PC.

Just try treating it as an ordinary drive.
If they don't respond to that, I would say you have a good number of bad 'sectors' on that card.

I need to transfer internal memory photos onto memory card

First need to take off the SD card; default settign make the SD card as main stored when this is inside the camera.

Take off the SD card and send the internal memory pics at pc folder (use USB connection); insure that the pics are in this pc folder, them delete the files in "internal memory".

Take on the SD card inside tha camera and send pics from pc folder at camera, confirm that the pics are there.

Hope helps.

How do i get pictures off internal memory onto a computer or sd card

Hi, I have the similar s8000fd and I transfer pics from internal memory by taking out the sd card then connect to a spare usb socket on computer, then switch camera on. To transfer pics from internal memory to sd card - leave sd card in, switch on camera (playback mode), press menu, select copy, select 'internal memory to sd card', 'select frame' or 'all frames'. It should say 'copy ok?' Press OK.

How do i get the pictures from my camera to the memory card

the question I ask is why would you want to do this?

The camera has XX Mb of memory in case the card becomes full. Generally one downloads the pics on to a PC and deletes the Camera files to start again

If you want to keep the pic files in memory and save them tpo your pc. remove the card for safety.. Interrogate your camera via the connection cord and the software it came with. Download the folder with the pics in memory to your PC. Then delete the files on the camera. Insert the SD card and In menu, set up to save files to SD card rather than memory while there is space.

I turn on my camera and it states "memory card error", and I don't want to lose my pictures I have stored on it. Is there a way to recover the pics without reformatting and deleting the pics?

Have you tried connecting the SD card to the PC?
Make sure you can do that, Also, After you transfer them off, Make sure the slot the SD card fits into isn't dusty, and, If it still doesn't function, Re-Format the card after you've taken the images off.

Hi there.
Yes you can put a few pictures on the SD card, you can transfer pictures back and forward while the camera is connected to the PC or you can transfer them via a card reader.

Unrecongnized file format

Hi there
Connect the camera to the PC, transfer the good pics to a folder on the PC, then use the camera's menu to format the card for use again, if you format the card before transferring the pics, you will loose them all.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

Cannot connect to PC

Wrote to GE about the problem. Win2000 is required. Looks like they aren't interested in getting a driver written for Win98.

However, they suggested I transfer the pics to an SD card and then use an SD card reader (cheap enough) to transfer the pics to my computer. IT WORKS but I would much rather transfer directly from the A830 camera to the Win98SE computer via the USB cable..

Cannot access pics

Once you took pictures without a memory card, all pictures taken will automatically be saved on the INTERNAL MEMORY of the camera.
When taking pictures with a memory card, all pictures are just saved on the memory card itself.
If you are seeing 100-757 on the LCD screen. It means that there are already 757 pictures taken from the first time you've used the camera.
It is possible that some of the pictures are in the internal memory and some are in the memory card.

STEPS to DOUBLE CHECK:
1) Remove memory card out of the camera
- Turn on camera
- View pictures on the internal memory
by just pressing on the PLAY mode button
(lowest of the 3 little buttons)
- Pictures seen are just the ones saved on the internal memory

2) Return memory card back in the camera
- Turn on camera
- View pictures on the internal memory
by just pressing on the PLAY mode button (
lowest of the 3 little buttons)
- Pictures seen are just the ones saved on the memory card itself

*** If you want to transfer pictures on the internal memory of the camera to your MEMORY CARD, you just have to follow the steps below:
- Make sure there is a memory card inside the camera
- Turn on camera
- Press on PLAY mode button to view pictures
- Press MENU/OK button
- Keep scrolling to the right until you see COPY TO CARD
- Select YES using the arrow keys
- Press MENU/OK to confirm
* When you've done these steps, all pictures from the INTERNAL MEMORY of the camera will be copied to your MEMORY CARD but it depends on the space left on your memory card

** If still, you could not view the pictures, it's possible that the pictures are really gone when you have transferred the previous pictures to your computer.

** Once you have transferred pictures to your PC, and you have deleted those on your camera, the FILE NAME of the pictures will not start from 100-001 again unless you have reset the file name on the settings of your camera.

In example, i already have 256 pictures on my camera so the filename reads 100-256 for the last picture taken. And then i decided to transfer those 256 pictures to my PC and i deleted those immediately after being transferred. So, as i took another picture, FILENAME will start with 100-257 if i have not reset
the FILE NAME settings to 100-001.

Hope i've helped you enough.
