I am using Dazzle 150 to convert analog to digital
my device is recognized by the computer and will do a capture.
Unable to access the files though because they are on 25 fps (PAL) format. Although the camera says it is NTSC.
At a loss as to how to get the videos downloaded to my PC.

Re: problem with Sony Hi8 ntsc playback
Do you have firewire ( IEEE 1394 } input on your computer if you do. You can transfer direct from your CAM to computer or burn into DVD without using Dazzle 150 see how to do it in user manual if you have not user maual, download from Sony Web

your camcorder has only A / V out.. it does not have USB or Firewire as some later models have ... so you need a Video Capture Device ... those are available as a card that is installed inside your computer or as an external USB device .. some of these devices use only SVIDEO which this camera does not have .. so you need a capture card that will do composit NTSC video ... most of the older ones do that .. then you might need adapters if its connectors dont match your camera .. the capture card or device usually comes with simple video editing software that can burn to a CD or DVD .. or you could use more elaborate software like Nero (nero 9 is the latest i think) .. there are many other editing programs available ..
here is a review of "video capture devices"..... http://www.aboutvideoediting.com/hardware/top10.shtml
some video cards already have "video in" connector .. its often SVIDEO .. so that wont help .. but some have analog (composit) inputs that you can use ..
here is such a USB video capture device that will work with your camera .. ........ http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3428849&sku=A03-7134
Vista should be able to download this without any issues as it already includes the drivers. i was able to do this with my sony dcr-trv250 painlessly over the ieee-1394 (firewire) port using the DVD capturing bloat-ware (Ulead DVD creater) Toshiba had already installed for me. My toshiba satellite is running Vista Home Premium.
as regards analog hi8 playback, the product manual for the 250 says that this is NOT supported, i.e., it CANNOT play back analog hi8 tapes. Also, i wonder if PAL would be supported here in the US (assuming you're in the US, of course). I would expect only NTSC support. but it's a moot issue, since it doesn't play analog
Sounds like you're feeding the ADVC the wrong broadcast format. Either PAL when the ADVC is in NTSC mode, or NTSC when the ADVC is in PAL mode.
Alternatively, your capture software may have a broadcast format setting as well, and that may not be matching what the ADVC is sending out. Remember that the ADVC does not do NTSC<->PAL format conversion, so NTSC analog input becomes NTSC DV, and PAL analog input becomes PAL DV.

I have heard this works, going to try one today, I have tried EVERYTHING else, downloading drivers, diffferent programs, firewire cords, so I think this will work, when I googled our specific camcorder, this matches, also, some people are selling the exact sony camcorder on ebay with this included, stating they have used it to connect to their pc. Hope this helps.
I have a sony handycam ccd-trv 308 hi8 analog camcorder and I was trying to transfer videos from it to my computer. However, when I plug the S-video cable to the handycam and my computer, nothing happens. Does my computer require a driver to recognize the handycam because I cannot find any in the sites of sony for my handycam's model. Or am I using the wrong wire?
