Question about Samsung LN-T4061F 40 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Need for a power conditioner unit ?

I just purchased a new, out of box special, Samsung 40 inch LCD 1080 HDTV. The sales representative highly suggested purchase of a power conditioner unit that filters potential input power fluctuations/surges to protect the TV. The representative indicated, pixel damage due to such unprotected electrical inputs can result. The standard warranty only covers so much pixel damage per square area of some amount so without such a conditioner, you leave yourself open to problems. Is this information from the sales rep. the real deal or is this a way to sell additional products ?

Thanks for a prompt reply,
Ron

Alright, first the thing about the LCD's is that they resist electric shocks like nothing else. Most of the LCD flat panels come with shock damage warranties.

As for pixel damage from electric fluctuations? That's a load of ****. I've ran so many LCD's and you don't even want to know HOW bad my power fluctuates where I live. I'm talking anywhere from 97v to 130v. Never had a single problem.

Another good idea however, a UPS. Having a UPS will definitely be a good thing for it and any other electronics such as a gaming system, expensive HD players, and home theaters. A good company to look at is APC Power Products. They make some really good UPS's and it's definitely worth looking into investing into one. These units not only help stabilize bad fluctuations, but also protect from surges and even keep things like movies from being shut off during those small electric power outs that like to reset microwave clocks. You can use one unit for all of your electronics and it's definitely a wise investment for the protection for your TV and periphrials. :)

Hope this helps solve your question there buddy. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask! Don't forget to rate the solution also! Cheers!

Not a great brand, generally when out of warranty, you are on your own. No repair except by independant shops if they will even touch it - no manuals or parts that they can get... Considered a disposable set.

Vertical lines on my 40 inch lcd mitsubishi hdtv 1080.

I assume your Misubishi is not close to anything electrical. However, it sounds like you have had an interference for some time. This will ineviteably cause the HDTV LCD to collapse. LCD's don't respond well close to heat. Is there a vent close? LCD's do well in a properly vented area but with all this said.......they will pick up interference from anything electrical. A few questions to ask ones self........are there any wireless devices or chargers close to the LCD? Might there be an oven, a/c unit or other wiring with 220 volts anywhere close to the LCD such as in the wall?
The Mitsubishi LT is a very reliable, multi component ready set that allows great viewing with surround sound. However, stop and think about this interference. It is not something in the unit. It is an interference. Look hard and when you've discovered it.....you won't believe how crystal clear this set will be.
Let me know what you find...Thanks for using Fixya and add any comments that may help us help you.
