Won't Power Up - A135-S4427

I believe that my son's laptop was hit by a power surge. Whenever we try to turn it on, the blue light by the power bitton lights up, and the little blue LED next to the power logo in the bottom left corner stays lit, but nothing else seems to be working. I've tried booting on AC power and battery. I've already removed and replaced the memory and harddrive.

Is this something that I can fix at home, or is it time for a new laptop

My A135 S2246 has exactly the same problem and was not hit by a power surge. 1 month after the 1 year warranty expired. I let it sit overnight with green lights glowing, and the next morning I smacked the keyboard lightly, in the enter key area and it booted up! a week later it froze up playing spider solitare, the only way to turn it off was by holding the power button. It went back to that same old no boot condition. still that way.

Power surge only affects the ac adapter... replacing it might do the trick... and/or have it repaired by a certified electronics technician...

I HAVE A TOSHIBA SATALITE A135-S4427 TURNED IT OFF ONE NIGHT WORKING FINE, THE NEXT DAY IT WONT TURN ON. I HAVE POWER THRU THE CORD AT ABOUT 18+ VOLTS BUT NO INDICATOR LIGHTS OR POWER TO COMPUTER. HELP?

Try removing the battery and power supply, hold the power button for about 10 seconds then just plug the power supply back in (not the battery) and see if it turns on.
Holding the power button with no power supply can discharge any stored power in capacitors.

the ram memory must be sufficient about 2GB & the processor must be dual core or core 2 duo.
if both condition your laptop follow then i think you should scan your lap top with anti virus.

it might be because your laptop is not able to complete post (power on self test), moreover have you tried holding the power button down for 15 sec without the battery and ac adapter and then trying to start

to troubleshoot further you should contact a local technician

Computer power

The power connector on the motherboard is not making contact.
This is not a simple procedure to correct due to the laptop needing to be completely disassembled to get access to the motherboard.

If you gently move the power cord around in a circle while pushing towards the laptop it should get power to it until it moves out of place again. Do this while watching the lights panel for any signs of light. Also remember it will take a second or so for the battery charge light to show power entering the laptop, so move the cord very slowly.

The suggested soloution will invole the laptop being sent to your local laptop repair centre for this to be corrected, or if you still have warranty, then get it done by Toshiba.

It is also a common fault to all laptops.. There is just not enough strength in the solder that holds the power connector in place to take years of connecting/disconnecting of the cable.

Toshiba Satellite: A135-S4427 / Won't shut down

Hi,
by pressing the power button in, the computer has gone into standby or hibernate mode.
Heres what you Do:- press and hold the power button for between 10 to 20 seconds.
that should bring it out of hibernation.
if that does,nt work. remove the main battery.
when you,ve resolved the problem, run a disk-scan via your windows operating system.
