Any modern ATX form factor power supply should do the trick. If you are buying new, ask the vendor. If buying used, make sure the power supply has at least 350+ watts and has the 24pin ATX connector that directly powers the motherboard.
there are many things that can shut down a motherboard.
power spikes, the caps on the board, a blown diode, voltage regulators alot of people use a power strip to protect there computers which is wrong they will not prevent a spike from getting to your hardware, even tho the light comes on the board (3.3v) if you do not have 12v or 5v getting through the board theres no way to get it to go the only thing you can do is see if you can find someone who fix's the boards or upgrade to a new mobo or find a replacment on ebay or one of the other sites
I suggest you take a look on newegg.com catalog, it provides a lot of information on the products such as, but not limited to, size of the motherboard and full specs of it. You need a Motherboard which is in the Micro ATX size range (which goes from about 17x17cm to about 24.5x24.5cm) check Micro ATX models to find one that fits your needs. you can buy the motherboard directly from newegg or fid the model you like and buy it somewhere else.
You can just replace your video card. If your using the Hp A635w with the intergrated video it may have just died. You sill have a free AGP slot on the board. Buy a AGP card with DDR2 or DDR3, change the bios setting to boot to the AGP card first & Bingo! Your up & running. The HP A635w is a Micro-ATX form factor: 9.6 inches x 9.6 inches. Thats the board size & that is what you'll need to fit that HP case. Micro-ATX's limit you CPU type & speed. Like dual core's.
I've listed one board combo doing a quick search & this board will take your current memory & fit the HP case. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3594506&body=MAIN#detailspecs
As I mentioned you can go for the AGP card listed in this link. Six pages of AGP's. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=318&
It's up too you pick your flavor. Enjoy!
