I cannot get the ice bucket out of the door. It has always been very difficult to remove unless it was just after I emptied the bucket and let it completely dry out before returning it to the door. I decided to empty the bucket and dry it monthly as a preventive measure in hopes that the ice that seemed to form around the mechanism would remain at a minimum. It appeared that ice formation might have been instrumental in making the bucket stick. The first month of this plan was up last week, but with grandchildren visiting I decided to delay the preventive emptying process until they left. I couldn't remove the bucket. This time, I removed all of the ice by hand and have, to the best of my knowledge, melted the remaining ice with a hair dryer. The unit seems looser than it did before, but still won't release. I press the side release bar in as far and as evenly as I can, but there seems to be one point where it won't disconnect. These things also happened: Last night the unit wouldn't dispense ice. (The beginning of the saga) It was grinding but there seemed to be an obstruction (melted and refrozen water?) that kept ice from dropping. After doing the exercise of emptying by hand and drying the unit with the hair dryer as described above, I closed the freezer door and let some more ice drop. That part worked. The unit would then dispense ice but I still couldn't remove the bucket. I slept on it. Today, it has returned to grinding with no dispensing. It sounds like the ice crusher might be running but it is set on cubes - or it might just be struggling.

Its just partially defrosted, ice chunks are up inside and through the unit, keep using the hair dryer,, also , once its defrosted completely, Look for a small leak , thats whats causing your problem in the first place

The ice dispenser is not working

If your design is the conventional with a catch bucket and auger it is likely that the output has frozen and is prohibiting the cubes to enter the shoot. Remove the bucket and discard the ice. Inspect the shoot in the door and clear any ice built up. Check that the catch bucket auger is free to turn and no built up ice in the output side that lines up with the shoot.

If the door to the shoot located in the freezer door fails to close completely then frost and ice will continue to build up in the shoot.

Cycle by hand a few times to ensure that the door will close. Also when dispensing ice ensure that the arm that contacts the glass has returned to the front position ensuring that the door is closed.

Wait for a new tray of ice. It will take a minute or two for the ice to find its way to the glass from a completely emptied bucket and shoot.

Hope this has helped?

Freezer temp flashing post removal of ice bucket components - is this why?

Possibly because of ice build-up under ice bucket, a common occurrence. It needs to be removed and wiped off periodically. And the ice sometimes makes it difficult to remove the ice bucket, so you may need to use some warm (not hot) water in a spray bottle (squirt warm water under the seam at bottom of bucket) to get it loose. Of course, this is all assuming the bucket is the type attached to the door.

My samsung rfg297aa dispenses crushed ice whether its set on crushed or cubed. why will it no longer dispense cubes?

This answer probably comes too late for you (you posted the question 9 months ago), but I want to record it here for posterity, since I had the same problem, and searching on Google for it brought up your question.
Anyway, I managed to fix this very problem by removing an ice cube that was wedged in the ice dispensing mechanism. The way this unit works is that it pushes the ice cubes through the mechanism, which always rotates the "crushing blades". When you select "cubed" ice, a lever opens up the exit chute wider, which causes the blades to simply push out the ice cubes as they pass through. When you select "crushed" ice, the lever closes the "exit" for the ice cubes to be narrower, so that the ice cubes can't be pushed through by the blades, and instead get crushed by them. I had an ice cube wedged in there that had the same effect of closing the exit to be narrower. Removing it fixed the problem.
You might want to collect all the ice cubes that have accumulated in the ice bucket in a container, empty the ice bucket, clean out the mechanism from any obstructions, and then put the ice cubes back into the ice bucket.

My icemaker in my large French door Samsung refrigerator takes forever to make more ice. Is there some way to increase ice production? It takes 2 to 3 days to fill up the ice bucket. There is nothing in...

There is no way to speed it up..
If the bucket is empty - 2 to 3 days to fill is normal..
It takes somewhere around 37 minuets for new cubes to freeze,, then dump.. Cant make the ice freeze faster..

If it has a inline filter on the water line - replace it.. If it is clogged it could slow the water that is going in..

If you-all use allot of ice and empty it before it catches up - I would suggest getting a bag of ice from the store and put some in the bucket to keep the ice level up..

Have a nice day...

ICEMAKER FROSTING UP

Try to take some ice from the dispenser. Remove the glass and open the freezer door to look down inside the dispenser chute and see if the trap door has re-closed. If it remains open warm, humid air will enter the ice bucket and gradually freeze the cubes together. Trap door remaining open is generally caused by a rusted electrical coil which pulls the door open electrically then sticks, unable to re-close. Coil is located behind the panel that operates the dispenser. Relatively easily accessible.
