I installed an RTH2300 this winter to replace an old mercury thermostat. It worked fine for the heating season. I turned it to Cool for the first time today and my AC and furnace blower will not turn...

Maybe turn selector switch to off.see if every thing shuts off.if yes. turn FAN selector switch from (auto) to (on) mode.does the outside unit come on or does just the furnace blower only run ? the inside fan should be the ONLY thing on.if not, reverse the (G) & (Y) wires inside the new thermo.

One day my RV Coleman ac just quit running on low cool but every other setting works fine. Any ideas?

Is your Air Conditioner run with a wall mounted thermostat or the ceiling pack controls? If it is the ceiling pack controls, then your selector switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced. This is located in the ceiling pack itself and is relatively easy to do. You can easily test it with an Ohmmeter, going through these steps:

To check the selector switch, remove wires from the terminals
and rotate the switch to the proper position and read
continuity as follows:
Terminals Switch Position
L-1-3 Lo Heat
L-1 Lo Fan
L-2 Hi Fan
L-1-4 Lo Cool
L-2-4 Hi Cool
* If you do not wish to remove the wires from each terminal,
disconnect the 9 pin plug from the a/c unit.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Air not working

The first thing to check is incoming 120VAC power to the unit. This voltage must be 115Volts domestic USA with no less than -10% allowable. If your voltage is below this point, the unit will not work. If your voltage is ok, check the thermostat or selector switch. Make sure that the thermostat (if wall mounted) has 12VDC running to it. If it does not, fix that problem first. If it is manual control, check the selector switch for ok. You should have incoming 120VAC power to the switch and when the High/Cool is selected, check the following.

Terminals LI and C, and L1 and 1 should have continuity. If not, replace selector switch.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

High cool and low cool not working

Hi,
Pls check the following....
1) Fix the wire connector to Reversing vale
2) Check the Capacitor if this a low capacitance or (open) not function using Multi-tester.
3) Check the Selector switch if this is not function using Multi-tester . or check the PCB Board (if electronic your units) replaced the Board.

If not yet,go to the nearest repairman to repair that units.

Thank you,have a nice day.

If the unit is manual control there are two knobs in the control the thermostat and the selector switch. If your selector switch is in fan position the fan will run and the compressor will be "off"(even if you "off" and "on" your thermostat), if your selector switch is in cool position and your thermostat is in "on" position the compressor and fan will both run. But if the thermostat is in "off" position and your selector knob is in cool position the fan will run but the compressor will be "off".

Chesapeake, given your symptoms you'll be looking at installing a new Selector Switch. But, before you go there... UNPLUG THE UNIT OR SHUT OFF THE BREAKER!!! Your selector switch does two things at a time, It energizes the fan motor (which it IS doing) and energizes the compressor at the same time. The voltage to your compressor goes from the wall into the selector, out of the selector, through the temp control then to the compressor. When the temp control is satisfied, it interrupts power to the compressor. The click you hear is the temp control being NOT satisfied and trying to send power to the comp. But if there is "no power" to send (i.e., the selector switch has failed)the compressor won't know to engage. Remove the front panel and filter. Remove the control box housing. Remove the knobs from the controls. You will now see the selector switch. Remove the 2 screws that fasten it (don't remove the wire yet!) and install the new switch. Then, one wire at a time, remove the wires from the old switch and install them on the new one. ***If you have an OHM meter, check the temp control before ordering a selector because this may be the problem and NOT the selector! To do this... remove the 2 wires from the temp control, set the control to "coldest". Then with your meter, test OHM's between the terminals. If you see "zero" OHM's, it's good. If you see no change in your meter, it's bad and THIS is the source of your problem. If you don't have a meter... you can test using this procedure... cut a 6" length of wire and strip the ends to about 3/8", twist the copper ends tightly. Remove both wires from the temp control, then insert one end of your jumper wire into one terminal and the other end into the other terminal. Make sure the "jumpered" wires are away from anything metal!!! And plug the unit back in. Now turn the unit on. If the unit fires up? It's the temp control, If not? it's the selector switch.
