Re: How do I listnen and delete MP3's on my Treo600?

In order to listen to MP3 music files on your Treo 600, you will need a third-party application such as PocketTunes or Aeroplayer more). Likewise, in order to delete MP3 files from an SD expansion card in Treo 600, you will need a third-party file utility such as FileZ (from nosleep software). Launch the file utility, select your inserted SD expansion card from the pick list, and delete any MP3 files you don't want. Please refer to the documentation for the file utility for specific instructions.

How do i recover a deleted file

Do you mean the file in your phone SD card,Wondershare Data Recovery can easily work out it.
Here is the guide:
1. Download and install the data recovery tool on your computer. It's free download.
2. Connect your phone SD card reader to the computer. Open the application, and then select the partition or directory that files deleted or data lost, and then click Next to start data recovery.
3. After a while you will find a lot of files found listed in the list box. Select the files that you want to recover, and then click Next to continue data recovery.
4 Select Path for Recovered Deleted Files.

Sd card

Check if the SD card has the lock tab on, if there is no lock tab on a side, then the card may be defective.

Use an USB card reader to transfer data into computer, then replace the card.

How do I format the SD card?

If you plug it into your computer and go to "My Computer", you should see your SD card listed. Click on it and then go to File, and then format.

If that option (format) is not listed, then you could just select all of the files and your card and delete them.

Palm Treo Rebooting After send an Text/SMS

Hello, hope it helps (from http://www.chaddickerson.com/blog/2006/05/19/what-to-do-when-sending-an-sms-makes-your-treo-650-reboot/)

The application that causes the reboot varies, but it’s always the same error related to the message store. Here’s how you fix it (and beware — this deletes all the text messages on your device!):
  1. If you don’t already have it, you need to download and install FileZ on your Treo. All this does is give you access to all the files on the Palm OS filesystem. This is a tool that must be used very carefully, since you can move, copy, and delete any files on the Treo, even ones you didn’t know were there. It’s one of the most useful Treo utilities you can have.
  2. Run FileZ on your phone and choose “View and Edit Files.” In the next screen, you should see “Internal” under Filename. It might also say “ROM.” If you have an SD Card, you should also see “External” or “SD Card.”
  3. Click on the little wedge beside “Internal” to expand the list of files on your Treo.
  4. Find Messages Database and delete it (you do this by checking it, choosing “Details,” and then clicking “Delete”)

1st approach (Quick one!)

1. Soft reset your device
2. make a backup copy of the folder \SD-MMCard\MSMETADATA if exists.
3. delete the folder \SD-MMCard\MSMETADATA.
4. Soft reset your device once again.

2nd approach (Long one!)

If 1st approach did not work, restore the MSMETADATA folder and try the following:

Step Zero: BACKUP
- Make a full backup of your device (including storage cards). If you don't like to do a full backup keep at least a backup of all files and folders we are going to delete as indicated below:

Step One
-In the main device directory delete the file WMPInfo.xml
-Delete the \Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\ directory and all of
the files in it including the WMDRM folder.
-Delete the \Music folder

Step Two
-Go to your SD card main directory and delete the file WMPInfo.xml
-Delete the folder \SD-MMCard\MSMETADATA
-Delete the folder \SD-MMCard\WMDRM
-Delete the folder \SD-MMCard\Music

Step Three
-Repeat step two for any other storage cards.

Step Four
-Refresh devices in WMP and the storages card should show up in the left tab
and in the sync window you can click "Next Device"

Hope this helps...

Contacts

Nope.
The only way you can store your contacts is by doing a backup with a software like SPB backup. www.spbsoftwarehouse.com. (but only for backup purposes)
Your contacts are used by the system all the time and they are stored on a file called pim.vol , you cannot modify or delete this file cause the system will break down. Your device see's that file only on the root memory so there is no posibillity to transfer it to the SD card.

Music files

I have e800 and there is no problem with mp3 music files. You can save it on PDA directly or even on SD card. The only thing is sound quality. The PDA speaker is not the best one. If you want you can use stereo headphone.

Installing files directly to an SD card

You can use the HotSync process to install files directly to an SD card, rather than having install first to your devices internal memory then the SD card. 1. Insert an SD expansion card into device. 2. Launch the Install Tool on your desktop computer: from the Windows Start menu, choose Programs, then Palm or Handspring (dependin on your device), then Install Tool. 3. Make sure the correct user name is chosen from the pulldown menu at the top of the Install Tool window. 4. Drag and drop files from your hard drive into the Install Tool window. File types supported on all devices: * Palm OS applications (.prc) * Palm OS database (.pdb) Additional file types supported on certain devices: * MP3 music (.mp3) * Pictures (.jpg or .jpeg) Please refer to your device's documentation to learn how to use these additional file types on your device, if applicable. 5. In the Install Tool, click on the file. Then click on the "Change destination" button at the bottom of the Install Tool window. 6. Move the file to the column for the SD card. Click OK. 7. Perform a HotSync operation.
