How long have you owned the notebook? This sounds hardware related. If so then the touch pad would have to be replaced.
Thanks,

Got to your computer manufacturer's website. find the drivers that pertain specifically to your system. when you get to that drives/software page, first thing is see if your BIOS has an update. Check the BIOS update that is listed, if there is one listed, against the BIOS that is currently installed on your system. Check the date and version. it is simple to do. Then just go down, and download and install all of your necessary drivers. And each time you download and install a driver that asks you to restart your system, then restart it then. When your system comes back up, go back to your driver page and just continue this process. Make sure you install the latest drivers, according to date and version. An easy suggestion for you is once you get to your specific laptop drivers/software page, you can add this to your favorites page list. Then, when you are back from restarting each time you need to, your drivers/software page is easily found by just looking into your favorites page section. That will keep you from having to always put all the information back in to get to the drivers page.

Same Problem as Yours

I also spoke to an Acer technician on the phone who advised us that Best Buy have much better repair facilities for Acer models. He also said it may just be a connection failure (loose cable of some kind) and Best Buy should be able to tell us. Will try to follow up here after a visit to BB.......
