Question about Hitachi 46BX01B 46" Rear Projection Television
Our TV looks very red and very blue and almost dark. We can hear the volume fine. What could it be. I have reset all the settings and convergence to original settings. Thanks!
The television has to be worked on, there only two componants which can contribute to that. the screen is about to finish or a mixer stage is gone.thanks

Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...

Could be the blue CRT shorting out. I had the same problem but with red. Eventually it shorted out completely. If it is only 2.5 month old it should still be under warranty and they will fix it.

Your unit uses a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) for each color.
Since you didn't say that it was a gradual change, I suspect the CRT filament has failed open rather than a slow death of internal emissions.
Considering the very high level of light asked of these CRTs, I am amazed they last as long as they do.
The replacement and almost certain necessity of initial alignment and color balance, this is beyond DIY possibility and is likely going to be fairly expensive.
After 5 years of use, the other CRTs are somewhat (if not a lot) degraded so don't be surprised when a tech advises replacing them all and I think it may not be a whole lot less expensive than replacing the set although looking at the specs for that set indicates it is not obsolete by any means.
