Question about Televison & Video
A friend gave me a used Toshiba combo set MV19M4 to replace a failing 15 year old Sanyo. When I first tried the set all was fine. So I unplugged it and let it sit for about a month (until the Sanyo finally died) before switching sets. I went to watch the SciFi Channel and got a notice on the screen that the set is V-Chip Protected and I am suppose to enter a code so I can watch the TV. My friend has forgotten the codes that he used. So now here I am a 53 year old shut-in on a fixed income ( unable to go out and just buy another set) who is bored to death, having no enjoyable TV I am getting frustrated enough with this situation to throw a freakin' hammer through what now seems to be a useless piece of equipment. Can you help me please? Is there any way to reset the set?
I scoured the internet on how to reset the V-CHIP on my Toshiba TV/VHS combo MV19M4 and could not find the solution. I tried others suggestions that had worked on similar models but nothing worked so I started experimenting and I figured it out! Follow these steps:
1: Unplug the TV for 1 minute then plug it back in.
2: In the menu select "TV Set Up".
3: Move the blinking block to beside "V-CHIP Set" BUT DO NOT SELECT IT.
4: Hold in the number 1 button on the remote.
5: Hold in the volume down button on the TV.
Your TV will turn off. Give it a few seconds to reset itself and then turn it back on and you will have to completely reprogram your settings. When you go to the V-CHIP settings it will ask for your new code.
