Problem for Compaq Evo Notebook N400c PC Notebook
Messed up windows
hi i have made a mess of windows on my note book. when i bought it it worked fine it had windows xp on it but i was told to put my own windows on it. i only had windows 98 (or so i thought) so i loaded it and i dont know what ive done but the windows disc i used asked me to insert disc 2 and that was when i realised i didn't have it. so now nothing works the writing has gone all big all of the important folders are there but are empty and it won't recognise anything everything comes up with errors and nothing works. Do i just have to get new windows (and if so which one) or have i really messed it up? and need to take to someone to reinstall all of the drivers ect... please help as i havn't got a clue as to what i am doing. many thanks and kind regards Liz.

- Hi, I have an Evo N400c in which the hard drive failed, I haven''t access to the docking station, i.e the floppy and cd rom, how can I install any windows operating system on the Evo without the above drives, I have tried installing Dos and booting from that, that works. I have copied a windows cd onto the drive ( using a hard drive adapter, connecting to the ide cable on a PC ) and tried to install from Dos this works, upto the point when the system reboots then stops, any help would be really great.Many thanks

Dont worry . Let me put at peace first by telling u you havent done any serious damage not atleast that will cost u to fix it .
You can either download the drivers for windows 98 and start using it . the drivers for this model are here

if u have 128 mb of ram i would suggest u install windows xp on it
