Hello,
Method 1: Initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); To initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens.

6. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each USB Root Hub in the list.
7. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.

Windows XP recognizes the new device.
8. Close the Device Manager window.

If this method does not resolve the issue, go to method 3.

Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens.
Uninstall all the usb controller from USB controller
and now restart the computer.

If this method does not resolve the issue, go to method 4 .
Method 3: Restart the computer loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); To initiate recognition of the USB device, first unplug the USB device and restart the computer. Then, wait five to ten seconds before you plug the USB device into the computer or hub. Windows XP recognizes the new device.

Greetings....

Please try to check if your USB port both rear and front USB port are not defective. Most common problem of defective usb ports are when plug your usb devices it won't recognize the device you inserted. So to make sure that your USB Ports are not the main cause why your computer won't recognize devices you inserted.

My sony desktop will nolonger recognize my ipod or my camera when I plug them into the usb port. It will however recognize my blackberry and my Ipaq. Please help

I assume you are running windows operating system. You need to uninstall all your usb devices. Go to computer manager/device manager and select all USB devices and unistall them. Go to the start menu, click on run type compmgmt.msc. Find all your USB devices on the right side. Follow the instructions for each device to uninstall them by double clicking and then select uninstall. once you uninstall, click on the icon to scan for hardware changes located on the sub menu. Your operating system should recognize new hardware or reboot and the operating system should install them automatically ageain. Try this, I hope it helps.
