Question about Magic Chef CYE4000AWW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer doesn't dry very well.

I have a Magic Chef dryer and it works, but it doesn't dry extremely well. A typical load will take at least two full cycles in the dryer to actually dry all the way. Am I using the wrong settings for my loads? A medium load of cotton t-shirts will take two cycles on the heated, auto-regular in order to dry them. Is there possibly something else wrong with the dryer? I've tried using the other settings, such as the auto wrinkle-free cycle and it still seems to take two full cycles to dry anything. Jeans and towels will take three cycles to dry. There's not much lint build up after each load, but that was a recent development. We just moved and hooked up the dryer in a new location. We had to convert it from a four pronged plug-in down to a three prong plug-in in order for it to work. It's grounded through the neutral wire with a brass plate. The vent duct is plastic and runs under the house about 20 feet before it reaches outside. Before the move, the dryer worked fine, although it would take one full cycle plus a little extra time to dry a full load, although I was doing fairly large loads all the time. Any help would be appreciated! I can't keep hanging clothes outside for much longer and the electricity bill will go sky-high if I have to dry each load two or more times. Thanks in advance guys! :)

Well, I'm not just talking about it. I have tried what I can so far, but just wanted some advice from someone else who might know more about dryers than I do. The dryer is about 5 years old and was given to me by a family member. I'd rather avoid an expensive service call if it's something that my husband or I can possibly fix on our own. Also, buying a new dryer just because it can do 8 loads a week for 25 years is not an option for us at this time. I appreciate your response, but am looking for ANSWERS, not just someone telling me to hire a professional or buy a new dryer. If anyone else has any suggestions or possible solutions to my problem, I would be happy to hear from you. (My husband thinks it may be a thermal fuse/thermostat problem.)

DEAR FRIEND,
ngfam1 here for you!
I am happy to be of assistance!

Why are you talking about it rather than acting on it?
You need service to fix it or perhaps if its old trash it and buy new!NOT MAGIC CHEF!
If you buy for price only you will change APPLIANCES EVERY 5 YEARS!!

For this problem you will need to use factory service!

Here is the service company I refer my appliance customers too!
A&E Factory Service
A Nation Wide Company. / Available 24 / 7 for arranging appointments! In the USA.
1(800) 905-9505

If this dryer is 10 years old or more do not spend any money on it!
The new ones are much more efficient! If you have to replace it buy a Speed Queen , it will do 8 loads a week for 25 years!
It's the last washer and dryer I will ever buy!!!! And less expensive than a top of the line unit!

Good luck!
You will be fine now!

Thank You
Bless you,ngfam1

It is not something you can fix like that without experience! You can spend your time and money changing parts and in the end you will need service anyway!!

I donot fix computers so I get a computer tech to fix mine!
I am not a surgeon so i go to one! etc...........
How eill i go to work with out clean clothes? A service call is only $75 dollars and then you get on with you lives.
    Ahumdillilah!!
It's only money, if you do not spend it then what is it good for!
I do not under stand your thinking!???
    Cleanlyness is close to godliness!
    You need to do laundry!
ya allah, let go and get on with our lives!

Magic chef dryer quit working

There is a thermal fuse inside the dryer usually located behind the back cover on the upper part of the combustion chamber. When this fuse "blows" it turns off power to the whole dryer. This keeps your house from burning to the grown, and you from dying. The fuse "blows" for a reason, most likely to is lint build-up in the dryer and/or dryer vent system. The good new it only cost a few dollars to get a new one. The bad news is you need to find out why it "blew", the dryer got to hot for a reason.

it sounds like you will need to change the coils on the gas valve. They are working intermittenly.

My Magic Chef dryer doesn't dry properly

remove the vent from the back of the machine, run it full of clothes from the washing machine and if it dries nicely, then you have a clogged vent that needs replacing.

Magic Chef YE228LV Dryer schematic

dryers only have 1 heating coil and it is located on the back inside panel of the dryer. Before you go taking you dryer's heating coil out please check the temp relay. now some dryers have 2 of thoses they will be on the heating coil case and look like silver button and usually have 1 or 2 wires on it. If the dryer will not dry as well as it use to than what may be happening is that the relay my not be working properly and telling the heating coil to only come on for a short time and than shut off again. now the relay's are the cheapest thing to fix. i would start with thoses. if that does not work or ou need more help please contact me again and i will assist you with disasembling you dryer to get to the heating coil.....
