L-4 is displaying after the copier jammed. What does this code mean? Does the machine need to be serviced to fix it? Is there a "quick fix" or diagnostic to perform in-house prior to calling for service?

Re: L-4 ... What does this mean?
L4Main motor problem
1-check the toner and make sure it can rotate it by hand, check the toner also,if it is too hard to turn replace, if keeps coming back may need to replace the main motor ( which turns the drum and several other gears.

DY THE DRUM CARTRIDGE PRINT COUNTER (YELLOW) REACHES 60,000 SHEETS OR THE ACCUMULATED NUMBER OF ROTATIONS OF THE DRUM (YELLOW) REACHES 715K
If your machine is displaying one of these codes let your service provider know. The codes indicates that the respective drum cartridge has reached it's maintenance or replacement interval. The machine will continue to print normally but you may experience copy quality problems on your printed pages. When the service has been performed the service provider will reset the counter and the code will stop being displayed. In some cases, the machine may be set to stop printing when this code is displayed.
E005 code means that the Fixing web needs to be replaced. Even if you were able to reset the code, the machine will start jamming with extreme frequency and deteriorate (damage) the Fixing rollers. I recomend having a qualified service tech remedy this error.
This is a reprint from another tech, he was right on with this...
okay lets shed some light on the E000 error code on the D680, D880, IR1300 family ( including the 1310,1330,1370,1630,1670) The error code E00 is a memory threshold error what it means is your machine has logged 4 of the following errors, E001,E002, or E003. It is a lockout error and the machine cannot be used until the problem has been repaired or the errors cleared. First lets look at the errors: E001 fuser over temp means the fixing assy has exceeded the manufactures maximum temp limits E002 fuser temp dropout means the fixing assy has cooled below a set point during a copy session E003 fuser no response means the fixing assy didn't even attempt to warm up at power on How to fix, most common problem is bad power setting 4 E002's either brown outs of brief power failures. To clear the error, Enter service mode by pressing additional functions then the # button, use the left or right arrow buttons to scroll to #7 printer press set. again use the arrow buttons to scroll to #4 printer reset press set. press the appropriate arrow key under the YES to clear the error. unplug the copier and reboot. At this time normal function should return if not and it resets a E00 the you can assume either the fixing assy is bad or either the power supply PCB or DC controller is bad and it is getting E001,E003 errors. At that point id call a qualified tech to research the problem to avoid spending money on excess parts
1. Turn machine off. 2. Make sure the scanner lock is unlocked. This is a clear plastic knob. (it is located on the left hand side of the machine under the document glass in the copy exit area - check your manual for a picture.) 3. Turn machine back on, watch scanner to see if it moves. 4. Try a copy. 5. If you still get an L1 then it might need service because the scanning bar is jammed.
This also is a fix if you are getting blank copies.
Hope that helps...
Check feed Rollers, and Timing Switch-no 4 in attached file.
Switch was not deactivated in proper time .That means, maybe paper path has some obstructions(paper scrap etc... ) or some spring on switch is not in proper position.
if your machine is giving E-005 that means your fixing assembly (fuser cleaning web is not detecting) is bad.
go in service mode by pressing additional fuction + 2 & 8 + again press addtional function
If you find that the E005 code won't reset after replacing the Web, and clearing both web counters in service mode, <COPIER>COUNTER>MISC>FIX-WEB> and <COPIER>COUNTER>DRBL-1>FIX-WEB> perform a Error Clear in service mode <COPIER>FUNCTION>CLEAR>ERR>.
