This may sound stupid and not help anything but I would change the batteries in the remote first; that's the simplest possibility.

What the set is doing is selecting a function, the first is 'Auto tune' during which the set is looking for usable channels on the 'off air' (antenna) input. I suspect you have cable or satellite meaning that there will not be any signal at the antenna input and the set just looks at each standard channel frequency and then gives up.

The language thing; this is curious but also a sign that it has switched to the menu mode where you also need to be if you want to do a channel search on purpose.

If the remote is not at fault, then it is an internal problem you will not be able to repair on your own.
The circuitry that interprets the received infrared signal from your remote has started producing noise or the output from that after a decoder, has gone noisy and is just choosing functions on its own.

The blue screen is what most sets use as a default when no signal is found at any input.

Unfortunately. Emerson, RCA, Zenith and a few others are US names we once trusted but now have been acquired by Asian manufacturers who are building junk with labor pulled from the fields to assemble high tech gear.

Hi Jim, your nearly there, all you need to do is go into the tv menu and move from DTV to the old type channel numbers and then find the bit where you can manually tune the tv to channel 68.
Have a sky menu picture running and you will see it come in.

I have a Westinghouse 46" Class LED 1080p 120Hz HDTV,(2.14" ultra-slim) LD-4680 and the volume keeps going down by itself and it keeps trying to switch channels by itself. I have Comcast cable hooked

The most common possible cause is the buttons on the set, not the actual plastic buttons but the tiny micro switch (push switch that only should activate when the plastic button touches it)

these go bad and depending on which is bad things happen by themselves.

Lucky that it is not volume up, that is nasty.

The way to prove/disprove this is to get at those--usually they are on a tiny board and if individual ones unsolder the two pins for each (may be more to hold them in place) taking them out of the circuit, set will still work with the remote.

If your troubles are now gone just leave them disconnected and use the remote as only way today to replace is buy that board which will have the same poor quality parts as the old one.

For the tech minded they can be tested with a ohm meter--check resistance with meter set way up to over 20k scale---each has two pins(the switches) and should have ABSOLUTELY no resistance reading unless pressed. I have seen ones reading over 5k or 5,000 ohms and that is enough to act like they are being pressed.

You're asking about its service mode code I assumes, and posts this solution. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Check this link and select the site named above. View it in 'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. Some times, the ads attached with each posts, both at the right and bottom, might help you to find the availability of spare parts. There are more than 750 posts to different brand TVs now

I have an Apex digital 32" LCD TV Model LD 3249 and Serial #36056009262 Is this a high definition TV

Yes. 720p High-Def capable.

Remember you have to have a High-Def signal source to actually view High-Definition video. This means local broadcast TV in HD or digital cable TV with HD service and a HD channel or satellite or a Bluray Disc.

I have a cable coming from the wall, and when I hooked it up to my TV Panaconic 42'' viera Just bought the TV today. . the screen is black and keeps saying No signal.... what could the problem be? Just had...

Hi,

You either set the options incorrectly when running the "First Time Setup" or you skipped the first time setup entirely. Even though the cable works with your older TV, you still need to setup your new TV correctly to receive the cable feed.

The quickest way to do this is run the setup manually from the menu as follows:

1. Turn the TV on
2. Press the "MENU" button on the remote
3. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "SETUP" (the arrows are the big ring button around "OK")
4. Press "OK" to enter the SETUP MENU
5. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "PROGRAM CHANNEL"
6. Press "OK" to enter the PROGRAM CHANNEL MENU
7. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key to ensure "CABLE" is highlighted
9. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "AUTO"
10. Press "OK" to enter the AUTO SCAN MENU
11. Highlight "ALL CHANNELS" using the UP/DOWN arrows
12. Press "OK" to start the AUTO SCAN

The scan may take several minutes to complete.

13. Highlight "APPLY" using the the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys.
14. Press "OK" - all of the scanned channels will now be saved.

The TV should now return to viewing mode and you should be able to watch cable on your new TV. If the TV does not automatically exit the menu, simply press the "EXIT" key on the remote, next to the MENU button.

Please run through the above steps and if you are still unable to get the cable channels on your new TV, please post back for further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

Started to retune our tv this afternoon and it gets stuck on channell 68 and won't switch off, except manually. What should I do?? The set top box is Netgem. Thanks

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

http://www.freeview.co.uk/_retuneinfo/

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.

It sure does sound confused.

Try a factory/default reset on the tuner, then unplug the TV from the power, leaving it for about 10 mins, plug it back in, then re-scan the channels.
