Take out the toner unit, I'm pretty sure the drum comes with it, look for a shiny cylinder, does it have a black ring around it? yes replace.
No, it may be coming from the fuser (exit wwhere toner melts to paper) not for the novice to do.

  • Put mending tape on the pasted part.

  • The original that has already been printed is scanned.
  • Original Type is set to [Text / Photo], and an original with text and photographs that can hardly be distinguished from each other is loaded.
On the control panel, press [Generation Copy], and then begin copying. Copies are too light. Image density is too light. Adjust the image density settings. See "Adjusting Copy Image Density", Copy and Document Server Reference . Copies are too light. A light copy may result when you use damp or rough grain paper. Use recommended paper only and be sure its storage environment meets the recommended temperature and humidity conditions. The original is not set correctly. Set originals correctly. See "Placing Originals", Copy and Document Server Reference . Parts of images are not copied. The correct paper size is not selected. See "Maintaining Your Machine", About This Machine . White lines appear. The dustproof glass is dirty. Clean the dustproof glass. See "Cleaning the Dustproof Glass", About This Machine . Copies are blank. The original is not set correctly. When using the exposure glass, face the originals down. When using the ADF, face them up. A moir? pattern is produced on copies. Your original has a dot pattern image or many lines. Place the original on the exposure glass at a slight angle. Black spots appear on the copy of a photographic print. Because of high humidity, the photographic print has stuck to the exposure glass. Place the print on the exposure glass in either of the following ways:
  • Place an OHP transparency on the exposure glass, and then place the print on the OHP transparency.
  • Place the print on the exposure glass, and then place two or three sheets of white paper on it. Leave the ADF open when copying.
White stripes appear on the OHP. Fragments of paper are stuck to the OHP. Use a dry cloth to wipe any paper fragments off the back of the OHP. The image on the back side of duplex copies has mottled blank patches or is smudged. Missing patches and smudges are caused by moisture leaking from the paper.
  • Do not install the machine in areas that are susceptible to low temperatures.
  • Use paper that has been stored where temperature and humidity conditions meet the limitations we recommend. For details about the paper storage conditions we recommend, see "Paper Storage", About This Machine .
  • Install the Optional anti-humidity heater. For details about the anti-humidity heater, contact your service representative.

Black stripe running down left side of paper when

Open the top of the fax where your documents go in. There will be a thin **** of glass where the document is read. On the end that reads "dirty" is a smudge or some white-out that needs to be cleaned. You may have to clean it with some cloth wrapped on a flat tool. Do not scrap or scratch anything, just clean enough to get the dirt off. Then make a test copy.

XEROX CopyCentre C20-Blank stripe going down side

Open the cover and put a piece of paper on only half the glass, and make a copy. BLOCK the left side of the glass with the blank paper.
See where it is blank. Most of the times that is a dirty or haved up mirror in the scan head. One of the small mirrors in the black assembly under the lamp. When a digital copier scanner optics become dirty, the image in that area becomes very light .

Black stripe and white stripe on copies

Black stripes can be down to dirty optics, unplug the copier and remove the glass, then clean all mirrors and the glass itself. If this does not resolve the problem, it will be the drum cleaning blade that has worn and will nedd replaceing.

Black strip Mark on paper after print

Ramana is the black stripe just showing up on copies or faxes or does the stripe occur when you are printing from your computer. If the stripe only occurs when copying or faxing then more than likely the scanner glass is dirty. White out liquid on the scanner glass is a common. If it happens when printing fromyour pc, the problem will be in the toner cartridge or the fusing assembly.
Change the cartridge first to see if it goes away. Check the scanner glass, especially the small glass strip on the left side of the scanner or the right side where you place the original paper. These areas should be completely clear and clean of any scratches or smudges.
Last is the fusing assembly. If you tried everything else and theline continues to bother you, the fusing assembly sleve is probably torn. This would have to be replaced. The part number is RM1-0865-040CN.

Gestetner 9940 Fax machine

okay it sounds like you have something wrong with the scanner which could be one of a few things.start by really looking close at the black stripe you need to make a copy of something with text across the entire black stripe. try both laying a sheet on the glass and throught the document feeder. what you are looking to see is if it's still able to scan the text and just is very dark in that area or if it's solid black with no text being exposed. one means that either your scanner is being blocked in that area due to dirt, white-out, smudges on glass, dust etc. the later being a diffective scanner.. I would clean glass paying close attention to the 1 " **** glass on the left that's what the machine uses to scanning with the document feeder. if you haven't solved it yet and you Must then lift the document feeder open, be sure machine is off. remove 5-6 screws securing the 2 guide plates for the glass, before doing so notice there is a gap between the two peices. the **** glass is for using the document feeder the other is orginal glass, they are two pieces so be careful when lifting the glass and clean both sides, then while you have the glass out, very gently hold the shiny mirrors just below and very gently slide to the left, there are 3 mirrors that may need to be cleaned using glass cleaner on very soft cloth, doing this ever so gently.
I hope this helps.

Thank You,
Mikey
