2 Answers

Ps3 video. You've probably seen this but wanted to share anyways. Still no luck with the video on my PS3. Iv'e got the Mother board right in front of me tying to see if somethings loose or what. Is the chip numbered 50 just Audio or both Audio and Video? Thanks

So no ideas on if theres a video chip or what produces video? Guess I'll try to remove the chip in this one and see if I have any luck. If your did what you said sounds like it could be some sort of fuse chip. Never heard of such a thing but you never know. Somebody needs to steal some matics.

  • robhyper Aug 27, 2008

Ya me to....wandering round in the you bridged that 50 chip was your problem no video? I wasn't clear on that. Thanks

  • robhyper Aug 27, 2008

Ya...I tried that numerous times. I even read some where on here that some one had tried it 8 times before they got it back on I did luck. Unit powers on, you can go go threw the reset process fine it just doesnt do anything. You can put a disk in and it'll start like normal. You can here it spinning inside and everthing....just no a/v out put. On the tv I'm using, if you have video output from a device it'll say "vid1" or "vid2" whatever channel you have it on even if its off. If theres no output then you get a "no signal" and thats what I have. Stumped!!!!

  • robhyper Aug 27, 2008

I wish we could figure this one out though rather than just changing out the board. I'm gonna keep looking around and see if I can find a circuit out of wack. I know on top of the board...if you start from the a/v terminal and come in a little theres what looks like some very very very tiny chips tiny for a meter "I'm trying to figure some way to test those right there. Then on the under side there one little big bigger chip that looks conected to all those. I'll try that one also. They all seem to track to what looks like a capacitor just a little away from the optical plug. It says 100 and then 10v. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for all the help!!

Would you think Blu ray drive board even if you get nothing when you turn the power on, not even the menu. I would think br board if it didnt play movies or games, how about you.

  • robhyper Aug 28, 2008

I've spent a couple of hours with a meter and didn't really find anything that stood out. The circuit seems to wind up at a large chip that says Sony Image on it. From there back to the a/v port I couldn't really tell of anything wrong.

  • robhyper Aug 28, 2008

Holy **** the thing just came up. Maybe the good vacuum I gave it did the trick!!! I'm gonna leave it on while before I turn it back off!

No, i doubt the BR board is bad. But it's "married" to the motherboard. If you switched the BR drive you have to keep the BR boards with the motherboard it came with.

Well the A/V in should be labeled Vid1 or Vid2 on the TV. My TV actually has seperate ports for Vid1 and Vid2 also they have their own channels.

The best solution I have for you is, buy a used one that has a bad disc player from ebay. Then swap the BR drive boards and there ya go. A good to go PS3.

You did try holding the power button to reset the system didn't you?

  • Wes Sydenstricker

No it was the Green/Yelow/Red light problem. There was a break in the circuit on the 50 chip and I removed it and bridged it.

Wes Sydenstricker May 11, 2010 aren't kidding!!! I could really use some matics instead of wandering in the dark!! LOL

I honestly have no idea. Someone told me it was an audio driver. But I removed the broken one and bridged the circuit with a 1/8" piece of wire and everything works fine. So I'm guessing that the 50 chip is useless!!

Niether one of those sites has the correct solution!!!! Those are the most common solutions that most people know about already!!!
When the default reset doesn't work there are more then settings causing the trouble.
I have done more research and have read that this could be caused from an overheat and the GPU needs to have the solder reflowed with a heat gun. I do not have a heat gun so I can not try this at the moment nor do I know if this works. I hope this helps at least a bit more then those sites...LOL!

How would i use dial up connection to connect my playstation 3 to internet?

Why would you want to? Dial up is so terribly slow for just Internet browsing; I imagine for playing games online it'd be even worse (if it even lets you connect with such a slow connection).

That being said, you obviously can't direct connect dial up to the PS3. There isn't a port for that. Instead you'll have to do a work around involving a PC/laptop with a dial-up modem/port and an Ethernet port on it. You'll also need and Ethernet cable.

Basically the plan is to connect to dial up using your laptop/PC, then share the connection on it from the dial-up port to the Ethernet port. The PS3 would then connect to the Internet through your computer. Not ideal, but then again having only dial up isn't an ideal situation to begin with.

Here's some specific guides on the matter:

Here's some generic guides on ICS (Internet connection sharing) on Windows:

Here's a link for sharing Internet connections on a Mac (if Mac's even have a dial-up port, I honestly don't know how old you'd have to go to get one with it):

    Best of luck!

How do i take the lid off a ps3?

Taking the lid of any console is not advised as it is not like any computer and you will break your warranty. If there is a problem with the ps3 then you need to send if of to sony, if the warranty is not void they will most probably fix it for free giving what the problem may be.

Dell inspiron 8000 without operating system

First, if you are still running Vista on your desktop then you will need to buy a license for the laptop. Does the laptop have a WinXP on it now? If so, go here and run the Vista Upgrade Advisor. If not, determine the hardware specifications of your laptop and go here Compare your laptops specs to those listed for the version of Vista you wish to install.
