Many vehicles have built in signals that radar detectors see as a laser radar. Basically there is no way around it. On my vehicles that emit this signal, I just disabled laser detection on the radar detector.
If your radar detector detects laser you are pretty much effed anyway. The time in capturing a speed reading is less than half a second with laser.
Lol fake so you are telling me that whenmine detects cops from miles away its lying even though I see them. Read the description *******! He had the Kat Traxx. That unit does not have a radar scrambler or claim it does. It has a laser scrambler which by the way are still active scramblers and laser scramblers are still legal. As for your problem, call Rocky mountain radar they are helpful and will talk to you to try and fix it if not you can send it in to them and they fix it for you.
When a radar or laser is detected, the unit will make noise. As you get closer to the source of the radar or laser, the noise will get louder and the signal levels (if you have a detector that shows signal level) will get stronger.
Since police officers like to wait until you are close to them, they may keep their radar guns turned off until you are very close to them. Once they turn it on, you are likely to be busted unless you can REALLY slow down quickly. Most radar guns take a series of average measurements on the speeding car. If the samples are too far apart, it keeps looking for a series of successive speeds that are close. This happens in a few tenths of a second.
SO even if you hear a SLIGHT noise from your detector, it may have been from a brief instant on radar gun in front of you, so BEWARE until you are sure that there is no threat.
The valentine detectors use multiple antennas to tell you where the signal is coming from. This is handy.
If the laser continuously falses even with the car's ignition turned off, then your radar detector has an internal electronics problem. If your radar detector frequently or nearly continuously falses for laser while you are driving even in the middle of nowhere, then most likely the cause of the problem is either poor power and ground connections or electrical noise within your vehicle's electrical system. Bel has a firmware fix to solve these issues. It if free if your RD still is in warranty. Of course, covering the rear laser sensor may solve the problem. That isn't a really bad idea since the rear laser sensor on all radar detectors is pretty much useless anyway.
Assuming the model number is COBRA XRS 9500CS 11-BAND RADAR/360* LASER DETECTOR WITH DIGVIEW DATA DISPLAY & VOICE ALERT This is what we can find out about it.
DETECTS 5 RADAR SIGNALS: XBAND, KBAND, KA SUPERWIDE, VG-2 RADAR DETECTOR-DETECTOR, SPECTRE 1 RADAR DETECTOR-DETECTOR
You should try to find out what type of radar devices your police uses.ESD7000 model does not support some devices such as Ku band radar signal, but it should detect all laser signal.Laser signal is often jammed by sun light. If your police uses radar detector detectors VG2 it will force your detector to hide from it making it invisible for detecting.Try talking to someone who has other type of detector that works in your town.It is possible that you will be forced to buy another model.
