Question about HP w17e Monitor

1 Answer

Widescreen format Hi I have the HP w17e monitor which is a 14x9 inch I believe. I need to figure out how to get it off the widescreen format into a normal view. I teach a graphics class and the widescreen view is stretching all of the measured views within the programs. Help! How do I do it?

On your main screen do a right mouse click and in the drop down menu, select properties or screen resolution. That should bring up your screen settings, normally they show which setting is the recommended setting.

I woul like to have a bigger monitor? where to buy and how much?

I just purchased the Acer X233h widescreen monitor. I picked it up at Staples for 139. They had a sale on it. Not sure what normal price is. Anyway I couldn't be happier with the monitor. 40,000:1 contrast ratio and can run in full HD, 1920x1080. I will be using a Xbox 360 with the hdmi to dvi conversion to take full advantage of the HD. Regardless of not being in HD. The monitor is great for a lot of computing needs. Also I went from the Samsung Syncmaster 740N. Which is a 17" monitor. Going from that size to a 23" widescreen is a huge difference and watching movies is a better experience. Check it out for sure. Hope this helps!!

Hp monitro speakers not working

Hi!

I think the sound drivers of your monitor may have got corrupted after formatting and hence you are facing the issue of speakers not working. Please try to rest the Monitor by turning off the monitor then press and hold the menu button and while you are still holding the menu button turn on the monitor and hold it still for 2 minutes. If the problem persists then you need to download the new drivers for your monitor from hp.com and install them to resolve the issue you are facing with.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

I need 96 dpi but I don't know what resolution settings to use to get that

It sounds like you need 96 dpi for some sort of graphics application? This really has nothing to do with viewing on your monitor though. DPI has more to do with how the image, pixel per pixel, is spaced during printing.

For instance... if you have an image that is 960x960.. at 96dpi you could print a 10 inch square image (wouldn't look that great at 10 inches however).

However printers ALSO manipulate the dpi. So for large images, you might need to give the printer an image that has 196dpi.

In summary, it really depends on the application. Thermal printers normally prefer 300dpi, large format printers like 196dpi (or there abouts), and our normal home inkjet will accept any dpi but you will notice if you give it 196dpi, you will get a better image when printing larger images.
