You need a bios master password that will clear your set bios password. I use http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_Acer_Bios.php when I get an Acer laptop or notebook that has an unknown bios password. Happens often in my job repairing laptops. They charge $20 and guarantee it to work or your money back.
You didn't mention what BIOS you have..(re: pheonix or ami or Award) so you can try "BIOS" or "CMOS" or "ACER" or "PASSWORD" or you can remove the CMOS batttery for a few minutes
The motherboard manufacturers are Phenoix, as it says on bootup. I'm not sure if you can recover the BIOS password by simple keystrokes/buffer overflows anymore, although I heard that some motherboards still have the password running in volatile memory, meaning that if you remove the battery it could reset the password (along with any custom settings and the clock).
hi ,
I had same problem, just remove plastic trim ( the one with the switches to power on etc etc ) and you will see a micro dipswitch. It should have all 4 switches to 0, move switch 1 to position 1 power laptop and password should be removed. Turn laptop off move switch 1 back to posiotion 0 and replace the plastic trim. It worked for me on an ACer Aspire 3610.
