Question about E-Machines PC Desktops

1 Answer

No Power. I have an e-machine T2885. Being a novice I am pretty sure that the power source is gone. I have a couple of questions: What wattage should I replace with and is it something that I could do myself?

Yes you can replace it your self verry easy what i do is use numbered color tape so i can mark the cords and any other thing that i might remove then i write it down on a piece of paper where they go and as far as the power requirements once you pull out the powersupply it will tell you on the lable what the wattage is i would bring it with you to the store to make sure you get the right one ok i hope that this really helps you aout ok best regards mike

Have a PC 099A-ABA that won't turn on after power outage and surges due to Hurricane Irene. Green light on back is blinking, but nothing I try has made it start. I think it's the power supply, but...

Hey there,

It sounds like it could be the power supply. What is the blinking light you're talking about? Is it at the socket for the network cable? (Cable should say CAT) on it somewhere.

If it is the network cable, chances are that the PSU (power supply unit) is not to blame, and it could simply be that something else inside has broken (probably the motherboard).

If it is the PSU that has gone, you need to replace it. unplug all the cables that attach to various points around your computer (making sure to note where they plug in). Then, check to see the wattage on the PSU and order one that matches or exceeds this value. They're reasonably cheap from practically any online store. I'd invest a bit extra in it though if you intend to keep the PC for a while as the reaaaally cheap ones inevitably break after a few months.

Once you have the new PSU, plug it into all the same places after screwing it in and it should work off the bat.

Cheers

Pc wont power on

It's very likely your power supply is gone. You will need to open up the tower, find out the output wattage (there is a sticker on the power supply), then replace it with a similar wattage model. Most likely 350W for eMachines would work just fine. Let me know if this solved.

Emachine wont start up

This is a DESKTOP machine, not a laptop. It has to be plugged into a wall outlet that has power, for the machine to run.

I have an E-Machines T2885 that has a green light on the motherboard I did try a different power supply this did not work.

Make sure that the connector from the power supply and the mother board is properly plugged in. Also make sure that the voltage selector of the power supply at the back is correct. Try reseating the memory module, or replacing them with a known good one.

Emachines T2200 - 6 years old or so, does not power on. I am thinking it might be the power supply. Not sure about cost or how to repair. Thoughts? Fortunately not my only system!!

Will not power on would be a power supply unit around $40-$90 bucks depending on the wattage you like to get and the explansion that you want..

This would not be a repair job rather then a replacment job all you do is unhook and label your power cables inside, use a screw driver and undo all the screws on the outside of the power supply unit and pull it out. Its pretty easy..

Replace an old mobo

According to Insignia, this case uses a micro-ATX board, so that's what you'll need. You might also want to replace the power supply too. The specs don't say what wattage they supplied, but they're usually pretty undersized in these factory machines. You'll probably need a new hard drive as well, unless you make sure your new mobo has two IDE channels. The original hard drive is parallel IDE and most new uATX boards have only 1 IDE connector but lots of SATA connectors. (A place I like to shop for parts is newegg.com.)

E-Machines Desktop won't power on but all components do!

There are many places to buy a power supply. And place that sells computer hadware will have them (or online at places like Newegg, Buy, Tiger Direct etc)
They are not that expensive.
Changing it is pretty easy.
4 screws, and the unit will come out.
All the rest is modular plugs to the motherboard, and onboard devices (like hard drive, CD ROM, etc).

Just make sure you buy one that has the correct wattage (you can go higher then what you currently have).
Just make sure it is for the correct style (AT, ATX etc)
