SOURCE: how to fix HP Pavilion DV6405US internal power
The dv6000 uses a satellite power cable to power the laptop, so there is no soldering involved. Ebay has the cable and jack for under 20 bucks. Below is the link to the service manual to assist in disassembly and installation of the cable. Once you remove the palmrest, only one screw holds the motherboard down on the lower chassis, then you just have to lift up on the right side of the motherboard and unplug the cable from the motherboard, then the jack is removed by removing two screws that hold the card in place and then lift it straight up and out. The manual is below. All DV6000s are built the same as far as the power jack is concerned. The illustration of the board is on chapter 5 page 60.

Make sure you have Cyberlinks "Youcam" software on your computer. Most HP laptops use this software for their webcam operations. Go to the site below and put in your model number, then choose your operating system. The next window you will see is the list of drivers for your laptop. Scroll down and you will see the entry for Cyberlink Youcam. Download this to the desktop and run the program. It will install the driver and software. Below is the link to HP Support.
