August 27, 2008 Regarding Model HP#C3140 All-in-One While printing an eight line letter parts of the sixth and seventh line became dimmer. Is there a way to clean the printer up some or is it running out of black ink? Thanks for your help! Carrol S. Elmore, 28 Kilbarry Ct.,Inman,SC-864-472-6783

It should give you a warning if ink is low, you can either print a machine test page (some give you an indication of ink level)
or go to
Start - printers and faxes - right click on your printer - Properties - color management.

if it not there do this simple test take out ink put on tissue, take off there should be a good flow of ink there, clean with alcohol and put back, if no better than replace ink ( you need will need it anyway)

YES THE PRINTER SOFTWARE ITSELF HAS A OPTION FOR HEAD CLEANING.

USE IT TO CLEAN THE HEADS.

IF THE CLEANING DOES NOT HELP THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THE BLACK INK.

Where is the ink cartridge located on the HP c3140 and how to I get to it?

From the manual:
Make sure the HP All-in-One is on.
Caution If the HP All-in-One is off when you open the print cartridge door
to access the print cartridges, the HP All-in-One will not release the
cartridges for changing. You might damage the HP All-in-One if the print
cartridges are not docked safely when you try to remove them.
2. Make sure you have letter or A4 unused plain white paper loaded in the input tray.
3. Open the print cartridge door.
The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One.
4. Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a
print cartridge to release it.
If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the
slot on the left.
If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge
from the slot on the right.

Photosmart C7280 only prints half the letter/line the part that prints is perfect but I would like the rest of the letter. Is the printhead out of position?

The print head is dirty, of defective.

Try a few cleaning cycles (the hp tool kit is in your HP program menu)

If this does not improve you image, replace the print head

Installed updates now HP printer won't accept refilled ink

HP does not recommend refilling thier tanks, their print heads are built in to the cartridge so if you refilled it before resetting the tanks you will have to go to www.hp.com and run the trouble shooting tool for free to fix your issue. you may have to replace the catridge.

I just bought a hp photosmart c3140 tri-color cartridge. after 8 small prints the ink low level lights flash-rendering my printer unusuable. i re-fill the tri-color, and reset the printer. still the...

I would be taking it back to the place of purchase and asking them to replace it. Or contacting HP directly with the problem.

You can contact HP via their home page of their website, or use the link below for troubleshooting and support:

NOTEs:

1. Unless you are printing a final copy of an item it is a good idea to always print in Draft Quality (to save your ink). HP Printers allow you to do this. This setting is generally within the Print window, when you select Print.

2. When you are printing a final copy then switch from DRAFT to BEST quality.

Epson Photo 895 Printer

Could be a corrupted driver. Try to uninstall and then reinstall with the latest driver from Epson. Personally I have always used Epson inkjets but I have had to replace 3 because the printer heads became clogged with ink. There is no way to clean the heads if it gets to the point where they no longer will spray. I now will only purchase HP inkjets because the heads are actually part of the ink cartridge, end of that problem.

C3140 PRINTER NOT PRINTING - HELP

How long ago did you purchase the printer? Does it have the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo on the box? If not, it won't work with Vista at all. I checked Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility List and it says the HP Photosmart C3100 series is *certified* with Vista, however it does not say it *works* with Vista. http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/ProductDetails.aspx?m=v&g=d&cid=900&sv=&f=86p&pn=HP%20Photosmart%20C3100%20series&oid=31 Per the link, the driver may be part of the Windows Update. Give that a try, as well as HP's website. Otherwise you may need to take it back and exchange it for a Vista-certified printer. Let me know how it works out!
