Prior to answering this question additional information is required, What HP and volt is the pump, what is the design head pressure and what is actual head pressure. what is the application of the pump.
I work energy efficency and recently installed VFD's on 3 larger garden pond circulator/filter pumps. With programming we reduced yearly energy consumption by 1,850,000 watts. with local energy rebates this upgrade was close to free.

You can use Solar Pumps: Solar-powered pumps perform well in climates with a great deal of sunshine and save money by not requiring an outdoor electrical outlet. Solar pumps also work well if your fountain is located a distance from the power supply. However, flow rate is minimal compared to typical voltage

Can i use this pump as a shallow well pump

i think im familiar with the type pump u have there , if its housing is stainless steel , this pump is for boosting a existing water supply , you can add it to a smaller lift pump from your well , but the lift this pump could provide would not be enough to lift water that high (very difficult to prime as well) , if you were to add addnl components(foot valve, pressure switch, pressure tank) to this pump you could modify this to work I suppose , but with the parts cost added I cant think you'd save any money from purchasing a proper one

Laguna water garden pump just quit working

Possible causes: Electrical or Mechanical. For Electrical - Check to make sure power is coming to the outlet/cord it is plugged into. If there is a GFCI on the circuit, make sure it is reset.
Mechanical: If something got sucked into the pump it may have caused the impeller to stop and/or the pump to overheat. Some models have an thermal override that will shut the pump off if it overheats. If it is a magnetic drive pump, the impeller can probably be saved, if it is a direct drive, it may have gotten damaged by the jam. Unplug the pump and carefully disassemble the portion where the water goes in to determine if something got sucked into the impeller mechanism.

STOP PUMPING WATER IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE IT IS NOT RUNNING AT FULL POWER. next day the pump is not working at all. alos this pump is less than 6 months old. it is the flo tech 1 1/2 hp submurable pump. is...

I don't know about the warranty if it's six months old, but you might remind Jerry at the hardware store that we're discussing his customer service on the internet..

Submersible pumps are pretty simple, but you gotta pull the darn things out of the well every time you need to work on them and they're kinds specialized- if you do it yourself, count on spending a little money and learning quite a lot. And being dirty and surly at the end of the day, and no water to wash in..

It might be worth considering a different brand of pump, especially if Jerry won't warranty this one. I see these Flotec pumps at the farm store and all, and I believe they're just more Chinese junk. Sticking with a Meyer, Goulds, Flint & Walling might cost a few bucks more (and it might not too) but they'll last longer and the dealer is more likely to care about your problems down the road.

Let us know if you're going to pull this pump out yourself, I know a bit about it and there's probably quite a few others here who do too, I'm sure you can do it without too much trouble. Best of luck with it.

Drive systems difference

Magnetic Drive: In a magnetic-drive pump, an electrical charge creates a magnetic field that causes the magnet on the impeller to rotate and pump water. Magnetic drive pumps are completely sealed and do not require lubrication. Because they do not contain oil, magnetic drive pumps are safer for ponds with fish as oil leaks do not occur. This type of pump does not generate high head heights, meaning it is unable to lift pond water vertically, which you might need to supply water to a fountain. Work best in cleaner environments with little or no debris Highly efficient, cost-effective operation Since they have no seals to wear out, they require little maintenance Occasionally clean the impeller and its chamber to ensure efficient operation Direct Drive: Direct-drive pumps have an enclosed motor that is powered by electricity, which turns the impeller shaft. Direct-drive pumps achieve significant head height so they tend to work well for fountains or waterfalls. Some models seal the motor in an oil-filled shell with seals around the cord and impeller shaft. These are risky to use if you have a pond stocked with fish as there is an ever-present danger of water contamination if a leak occurs. Many newer pumps, however, feature alternative lubrication over oil that is safe for fish. Look for oil-free models if you house fish or other aquatic life in your water garden. Typically more expensive to operate Ideal pump type for fountains or other accessories Pushes water rather than pulling it Not easily repaired by the user

24HR working pump question

Utility Pumps: Utility pumps draw water through openings that screen out debris. When placing one into a pond, use a pump sock or other enclosure to reduce the amount of cleaning needed. If you use a pump sock, be aware that sock-like screening can cause a dry pump situation. Solids Pumps: These pumps draw water through a large opening and pump small debris through without clogging. For this reason, they can be placed into a pond without prefilters. Note, however, that this type is not safe for ponds with fish, frogs or other aquatic animals
