Because every person has a different extent of hearing loss with a different type, this is difficult to answer. Some believe that there are benefits to wearing two aids. Obviously they provide for a more balanced hearing by better directing sound from different areas. Some believe that two aids provide more clarity and allow the user to hear better in noisy locations. A licensed professional or audiologist will best be able to recommend whether one or two aids will work best for you.

Most new hearing devices come in three technology levels. The premium hearing aids usually have ear-to-ear wireless meaning that the hearing aids "talk to each other" to help you hear in difficult situations like in the car. If you are the driver, the right hearing aid sends info to the left which is closer to the window/road noise. Hearing aids have greatly improved but will never replace normal hearing. We were born with two ears for a reason. Having two helps with localization/directionality. There are even Cros devices which can route sound from a "dead" ear to a better ear. Usually two are best unless you only have hearing loss in one ear. People who demo just one hearing aid Despite hearing loss in both ears usually end up getting two because it sounds much better. See a licensed audiologist who will check your hearing in a sound booth and will explain your hearing loss and pertinent technology differences. It can take several weeks to get used to hearing devices especially if you've had untreated hearing loss for a long time. In the end it will be worth it if you select better quality devices.

T coil. I do not use a hearing aid. Should the t coil be on or off?

Tcoil should be turned off for normal day to day hearing aid use so that the person wearing the hearing aid does not hear a "buzzing" sound. The Tcoil picks up teleloop signals which is a special signal sent out by a teleloop antennae.
Some students with hearing aids use tcoil for special programs that let them hear the teacher. Tcoils were popular in older hearing aids for phone use but now people use Bluetooth in hearing aids more.

Squealing at random when volume is at approx 50%

Take your hearing aid to your specialist. Check on wax in your ears. Also are you near a window when the feedback occurs? Due to the phase-cancellation in hearing aids sometimes the signal bounces back and thinks it's feedback. So the hearing aid sends out it's own frequency at 180 degrees and hits it to cancel it out. If this is a false reading however the hearing aid will create its own feedback

Hearing aids keep shutting down. Batteries get wet.

First you should probably keep your hearing aid and battery away from water.I suggest taking it out while in the shower/bath and cover your head with a hood or umbrella while out on a rainy day.If battery keeps shutting down then replace the old battery with a new one.If problem keeps accorring then maybe its time to take your hearing aid into your local hearing aid repair and let them solve the whole issue with why it keeps shutting down

Hearing aid tubes for a Electone Tango 3p hearing aid. Where can i get them?

rimcnaney,

Where did you get your instrument? This is where I would go to obtain the hearing aid tubes you are requesting. Generally, unless you have the expertise to replace the tube you may be making another problem to solve by replacing this hearing aid tube for an Electone Tango 3p hearing aid.

Hearing Aid price

There are many factors that need to be considered when estimating the price of the hearing aid: What type of aid is it? What accessories does it have? Is it digital or analogue? Is it programmable? Did I get my hearing consultation and other services with the aid? What are the capabilities and product features? One hearing aid can cost $50 (for disposable aids) to $5,000 for models with the most cutting-edge technology.

Hearing Aid Question

Behind-the-Ear (BTE) - Sits behind your ear and is connected to an ear mold placed inside your ear via tubing. BTE devices are fastened on the ear with an ear hook and the ear molds are custom made to fit the user's ear. In the Ear (ITE) - These are placed in the ear of the wearer. In the Canal (ITC) and Completely in the Canal (CIC) - With ITCs and CICs, the whole hearing aid is placed inside the canal. ITCs are often larger than CIC devices. CICs are extremely tiny in size and are almost invisible. Body-worn hearing aids - These aids use an external box worn by the user. The user wears an ear piece which is attached to the box by a wire. There are also disposable hearing aids available which have a built-in battery and, after the allotted hour or time usage, the user simply replaces the entire aid.
