How do I get body fat help?

Why do I need to know the percentage of fat in my body? My weight is not enough?

The scales don't tell you the whole picture - your weight is less important than your percentage of body fat when it comes to appearance, fitness, and health. Tracking your percentage of body fat better shows how you are doing with diet and exercise than measuring weight. Remember that weight is measuring not only your fat, but also you muscles and your bones. If you did some extra work at the jym, your body weight might be effected (muscle tissue is heavier then fat tissue).

Body fat consists of essential body fat and storage fat.

  • Essential body fat is present in the nerve tissues, bone marrow, and organs. Essential fat is the minimum amount of fat necessary for basic physical and physiological health. It is approximately 3% of body mass for men and 12% of body mass for women.
  • Storage fat, on the other hand, represents an energy reserve that accumulates when excess energy is ingested and decreases when more energy is expended than consumed.
In general, the total body fat percentage (essential plus storage fat) is between 12% and 15% for young men and between 25% and 28% for young women. You can use this body fat calculator to have an an idea of your body fat percentage:

Go and have a Body Mass Index(BMI) test. You will come to know how much fat you have and also how fit you are.
You can also look at the weight decrease from measuring body weight.
You can realize it visually too. But BMI is the best.

How do I reset my ozeri digital scales that read body fat percentage


I fixed this on my scale by going through every profile and changing the height and age, setting the two main ones correctly (but swapping my wife and mine) and then setting the rest to be very short and young. Then I pressed Set, picked my profile again, and weight myself. At this point I no longer got the PIP2 error.

E4 smeans The values of body fat percentage and BMI are outside the measurable range.

Please check and set height, weight, age, and gender again.

How to Determine Body Fat Percentage
Setting & Storing Data in the Memory
1. Turn the power on using the set button.
2. Select a Personal data number using the Up/Down arrow buttons, then press set.
3. Select your Age using the Up/Down arrow buttons to scroll through numbers, then press set.
4. Select Male or Female using the Up/Down arrow buttons, then press set.
5. Specify the Height using the Up/Down arrow buttons, then press set.
The unit will beep twice and the display will flash all data (Male/Female, Age, Height) to confirm the programming. The power will shut automatically, or you can tap the weight only button (in front of monitor) for quick shut off.
How to select Personal Data Number
1. Press the Up memory button to turn on.
2. Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to select your personal data number, then press set.
3. The unit will beep and the display will show the programmed data.
4. The unit will beep again and the display will show '0.0' and then step on the platform.
5. Your weight will show first, then "00000" will appear and then your Body Fat Percentage will appear on the display.
Programming the Guest Mode
1. Press the Down Guest button to turn on
2. Follow the same steps for programming as outlined above.
3. The unit will beep twice and show '0.0', then Step onto the platform.
Taking Weight Measurement only
1. Select weight only mode, by toe-tapping the weight only button located at the base of the scale.
2. Wait for the scale to display ‘0.0', then step on.
Replacing the batteries
1. When the "Lo" error message appears on the screen, the batteries need to be replaced.
Understanding Your Readings
Healthy Range Indicator
(Please note this function is only applicable on adult mode, as no standard healthy ranges have been established for children and athletes.)
Your body fat monitor/scale instantly compares your body fat reading to the healthy range chart. Following your body fat reading, a black bar will flash across the bottom of the display, identifying where you fall within the body fat ranges for your age and gender.
(-): Underfat; below the healthy range. Increased risk for health problems
(O): Healthy; within the healthy body fat percentage range for your age/gender
(+): Overfat; above the healthy range. Increased risk for health problems
(++): Obese; high above the healthy body fat range. Greatly increased risk of obesity related problems.

No instructions. how do i set it up and what does


P zero to P 9 is just a user number to set it up... Instructions for set up are:
  • Turn it on.
  • Select user number using up and down buttons (P0 is fine).
  • Hit the Set button.
  • Choose gender using up and down buttons.
  • Hit the Set button.
  • Enter your age using up and down buttons.
  • Hit the Set button.
  • Enter your height (goes in 1/2 inch increments) using up and down buttons.
  • Hit the Set button. (Info is now saved.)
  • When scale changes to 0.0, you can step on, and get your weight.
  • It will blink and change weight possibly for a second or two. When it stops, it shows your weight.
  • Stay standing still on the scale after your weight, and it will gon to show your bodyfat percentage, then your body water percentage.
  • When finished, you can step off, and it will turn off.

Ideal percentages are also based on age categories as well. The recommended amount for women is 20-25% and for men is 8–14%. Like all body fat tests, body fat scales don't actually measure your body fat percentage. They determine your body density. The examiner (or the scales) then uses a formula to calculate body fat percentage based on body density. These formulas just predict your body fat. Unfortunately there is no one formula that accurately predicts body fat for the whole population. Differences in age, gender, ethnicity, body size, and fitness level all have a significant affect on the results. Well, whether body fat scales measure your "true" body fat percentage or not doesn't matter! As long as they can accurately monitor changes in your body composition over time, that's all you need.
