For the most efficient use of the gun, always make a careful check that all parts are the proper size and type, and are in perfect working order before operating. The following items can serve as a checklist: Manifolds and Regulators: The CFM capacity should be at least one and one half (1.5) times the total capacity required by the equipment. A separate regulator should control the atomizing air and all gauges should be readable and in good working condition. Moisture and Oil Traps: In order to assure the least amount of contamination of the Gel coat, moisture and oil traps should be installed and drained daily (minimum) on all air lines at the spray booth. Traps must be installed on the lines at least 25 feet away from the air compressor. Quick Disconnects: Quick disconnects are not recommended for airless or high pressure systems, and may reduce the volume of air and fluids passing through them. If they are used, they should be the largest size available. Hoses: Hoses are used only for delivering air from a regulator on a main air line and fluids from the fluid pump to the gun. The standard hose length is 25 feet and should never exceed 50 feet. Hose capacity should match the volume delivery and pressure demanded by the gun when the trigger is pulled. Hoses must be capable of delivering the material at the volume and pressure rates dictated by the gun. There will always be a pressure drop from one end of the hose to the other.

How do you take this hvlp gun apart for proper cleaning of the spray gun?

I've found over the years the least amount of times you can tear a spray gun completely apart the better. Usually a real good 'flushing' with lacquer thinner will suffice. I will take the air cap off and let it soak in thinner to dislodge any build up but other than that, I simply run thinner thru till it runs clear out the tip.

I also 'back flush' which involves having thinner in the cup and the air supply hose attached. the air pressure should be adjusted quite a bit lower than what you use for spraying paint.

Then you place a clean shop towel or rag over the air cap of the gun and pull the trigger. This forces air back into the paint cup 'back flushing' the gun. Then take the rag away from the cap and pull the trigger again to run thinner thru the gun the normal way.

IF you still want to tear the gun apart for cleaning you can hopefully get some idea with this video link;

Why do I lose pressure while spraying. The air comes and goes. I have to wait for the pressure to build back up to spray again.

Well, either a system leak or your compressor does not have the capacity for the air usage of the gun. Spray guns have high air consumption.

My paint gun is pulsating instead of spraying evenly

It looks like you have a Devilbiss SRI.

Probaby the hole in the lid is blocked, The gun sprays, paint gets sucked out, no air can get back in through the little hole in the lid to replace so it stops spraying, pressures even up it sprays abit more, and so on.

Either that or you have a damaged fluid tip.

Bad air flow. it doesnet seem to be spraying out of the fan correctly. In fact, i don't even get a noticable fan spray. it just sprays a round pattern no matter what i do.

Check none of the air holes int he cap are blocked. Also there is a small wheel adjuster on the left side of the gun, or perhaps even on the top which will adjust fan spray shape.

Of course you need about 30-40 PSI pressure at the gun end for it to spray properly, as well as a compressor with about 12-15cfm air flow rating to use a HVLP gun efficiently.

GX 08 spray gun problem

drain your system of pressure. remove your air cap and nozzle from the gun. slowly increase fluid pressure till it comes out of gun. this will clean out debri from gun. reduce pressure so you don't wast anymore fluid.
clean nozzle properly / completely
clean aircap. properly / completely
inspect needle tip for abnormal wear.
if cleaned properly you will find your gun works much better.

Daily clean-up all parts with proper cleaners/solvents. Re-lubricate where lubricant is washed away by cleaning. Moisture traps and compressor tanks must be drained daily.
